Default who watches the special features?

watched FLATLINERS on blu the other night. what struck me was how fast the disc loaded and how easy it was to "just watch the movie". this is an older movie lacking all the special features found on releases like POTC. don't get me wrong, theatrical trailers and some of the deleted scenes are nice to have available. i was just amazed at how quick i got from inserting the disc to watching the movie. do you think their would be a market for lower priced disc's without all the extras?

Default Difference in some Blu-rays

Yeah, I have noticed differences in many of the blu-rays I own. Flightplan started up very fast, while Weeds Season 2 takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r!!!

Sony Blu-ray Player BDP-S300

It has to be a really good movie for me to watch special features. I'd say about 20% - 30% of the time

Only on rare occasions. On DVD I watched them on LoTR (both editions), and on the Star Wars trilogy. Once these come out on Blu-Ray I'm sure I'll watch them again.

On Blu-Ray I watched the special features, on Blood Diamond, and Troy the directors cut. I haven't watched them on any of my other Blu-Rays.

about %1 of the time. Even on my favorite movies I hardly ever watch special features. I couldnt care less how a movie was made. I couldnt care less about directors comments. Id rather just watch another movie.

I watch mostly Deleted Scene and Bloopers. I select Commentary Audio rarely but i did it for Weeds S2. I wish Apolcalypto had one with a Mayan PRO for the technical side of thing, i would have listened to it. But i did it for that movie for about 3/4 of it...

the PIP on the 2nd Bourne movie was very nice because it was the entire lenght of the movie and each scene was showed relative to what was going on On Screen and it was better than listening to a Commentary audio IMHO...

I also started to watch the one on Waiting... The Director Control the movie, it's pretty funny..

But generally i don't , for example, i think i've watched like 5% of all POTC 1 and 2 extras..

I'll only watch the features on movies like Superman or Batman, characters I've loved my whole life, Kevin Smith movies, or movies that are based on true stories. Other than that, I rarely even see what features there are.

Sometimes I'm interested, sometimes not. Depends on the movie. I would easily sacrifice Bonus Material for top PQ and PCM sound if thats what it came to. I want the movie to have the best presentation possible before spending any disk space on extas.

I watched all of the extras on Flags Of Our Fathers because, as a Kiwi, I was interested in the story behind the movie. Usually don't watch many extras though.

I watched one once. Was on one of the Matrix DVDs. Remember the Matrix spoof done for the MTV movie awards with Will Ferrell as "The Architect"? I even watched it a second time when a friend came over and asked about it.

Oh! I accidentally put in a special features (disk 2) once.

The first one I ever watched was the 2hr. 24 min. documentary on The Devils Rejects. Since I got into watching Criterion I'm watching a lot more.

Depends on the movie, the first POTC i watched every second of the Special Features. Most i don't which is dumb since i pay more for the special editions like 99% of the time.

Deleted scenes are often worth watching. It's actually quite interesting how deleting 15 seconds can completely alter the flavor of a scene. Most of the time, you can see obviously why the scenes were deleted, but occasionally you find yourself wishing they had left something in, especially when it gives you a little piece of a character that was not otherwise exposed in the finished film.
