Default Use PS3 for music discs without turning on TV?

My setup is: PS3 -> HDMI -> Receiver (Yammy RX-V661) -> HDMI -> Projector (Panny AX-100).

Sometimes I would like to put a CD or Blu-ray concert disc in the PS3 drive and listen to music without firing up the projector bulb. It seems like the PS3 won't start to autoplay until after it detects that my projector is turned on.

Any suggestions, insight? TIA

That is odd. I assume that you have the autorun feature turned on. I just tried it, and it worked for me. I dont know if for some insane reasons that is a problem strickly pertaining to projectors.

sorry but I'm in a similiar situation as the OP and I'm unfamiliar with the autorun function on PS3. How do I set that up on the PS3?

Mine did it automatically right out of the box... but I'm doing HDMI direct to the TV and Optical for audio to the receiver, dunno if that would make a difference?

I like the 2nd graphics it shows on the TV when listening to music. I'd just tun it all on!

BD remote just do practically the same thing as controller, except you have some dedicated buttons

In theory yes. In practice, whenever I try to do this I end up switching on the TV anyway.

It turns out my music CDs were not autoplaying because the system was waiting for a response to the prompt regarding downloading album information off the Internet. Getting past that screen, now it autoplays just fine with the projector still turned off.

There ya go. One happy camper. If you don't want to power up your projector, you could get a HDMI splitter (splits the signal into two) or a HDMI switcher and feed the same signal to a 20" widescreen computer monitor (HDCP HDMI compliant) just so that you can navigate.

This might be a more expensive (but more cool) solution, but w/the wireless connectivity options between PS3 & PSP, couldn't ya sorta use the PSP as a remote control that has its own TV screen? I don't have the PSP (yet ), but I wonder........................
