response time & brightness?? - Blu-ray Forum

well im probably going to buy a new HDTV and had 2 questions do u want a 6ms response time or a 8 ms response time, and is 500 cd/m good or 400 cd/m ?? please help

first off, thank you so much for not being a person who ONLY looks at resolution. it really bugs me the amount of people who go buy the cheapest 1080p available and then wonder why it performs like crap.

smaller response time is always better, this is how quickly pixels turn on and off (rise and fall) in milliseconds. 5/6ms is descent, anything too high will give you noticable tracers (like quickly dragging mouse acoss desktop on a cheap old monitor).

cd/m is a measurement of brightness (CanDela per square Metre), higher values here are better. the brighter a screen is the easier it is too see in a bright room or daylight.
