Default Brightness fluctuations

I have looked on the internet and on this forum and do not see exactly what this could be. When watching TV or Blu-rays, the brightness will change. It is most obvious when there is white credits on a black background. It will get very bright and washout the blacks. When the credits fade, everything gets dark and rich again. Credit pops back up and same thing. I thought this might be a Dynamic Contrast issue but I turned it off and doesnt seem to help. Thanks for any advice!

I can tell you that I have a Sony lcd and mine was doing this also, until I read somewhere in this forum that if you turn on Game/Text mode it should stop. If you need more technical answers I'm afraid someone else will have to help you, but that worked for me.
In my case it was very annoying watching 2001 and having the outer space scenes brightness jumping up and down.
I would like to know if there is a downside to keeping this video control turned on.

It's not Dynamic Contrast? Surprising, since that was my immediate guess. It may have some kind of processing going on (like Philips "Perfect Pixel") that is doing it anyway. Try turning all those modes to "off".

Also, could it possibly be the light sensor? I know that can affect it as well. However, if it's a locally dimmed set (what model is it, by the way?) it's going to do this no matter what.

Thanks for the feed back. Im going to go home and turn off all the extra modes and see if that helps. Its funny how much better TVs are, but yet require so much work. My old CRT SD tv lasted 15 years, never adjusted it and was fine when I upgraded to flatscreens.
