Cloudy 2 $38 million
Rush $9 million (marketing's been all over the place and word's been very strong but Americans simply don't care about open-wheel racing)
Baggage Claim $6 million (not much marketing and the plot is very cliche)
Don Jon $5 million (it's simply going too wide and the rampant Italian-American stereotypes are a big turn-off)

Don Jon was an obvious bomb from the moment the trailer came out, IMO. It looks like an indie film that's getting a wide release. Now that's not a bad thing, I just don't believe it will have much appeal at all despite strong reviews.

I think Don Jon is only getting positive reviews because of who directed it (critics seem to congratulate popular actors for directing for the first time, even if the film is dumber than a bag of rocks). Otherwise, I think people would simply see it as another dumb ethnic comedy that insults rather than pleases.

Don Jon should have been platformed the first weekend (as porn addiction won't sell in middle America and the stereotypes will hurt it in cities with heavy Italian populations) before slowly expanding.

Cloudy is a family favourite, of course it's going to take number 1.

I don't see Don Jon doing phenomenally well, Rush is a bit of a hard one to pin down, and Baggage Claim has a target audience that usually makes their films a surprisingly moderate success. It's hard to really decide how each film will do.

Baggage Claim has hardly been marketed and Paula Patton isn't the biggest name right now (at the moment, she's probably best known as Robin Thicke's wife).

Cloudy takes the weekend by storm, because it's been over a month since the last CGI animated film for kids (the dismal Planes).

Another weekend with 4 releases? One of these should've been released with Riddick.

I'm going to see Cloudy 2 and Don Jon. Rush probably when it comes out on Blu. No interest in Baggage Claim.

Oh, didn't you hear?
Christmas Day isn't for kiddie CGI-hybrid comedies anymore, now it's for old people, as studios try to figure out why "Little Fockers" beat all the competition.
So, now they assume only old-fogeys go out on Christmas week, to see any movie with Barbara Streisand, Robert DeNiro and/or Ben Stiller in it....Stiller is the new Alvin.

Easily Cloudy 2

Its too bad, I think JGL does great work and is very committed to the craft but I can see Don Jon getting spanked hard at the box office.
