I support the Studios like Universal Studios, and DreamWorks.
At least they still supporting 3D Blu-ray release in US.

Agreed. Boxtrolls has mild 3d like Paranorman had. It still adds to the experience though.

I'm trying to cut back on buying animated movies as unlike live action, i watch them once and then they tend to just sit there. The only ones i can watch regularly are the ones that are made more like a live action movie, such as Tintin, Polar Express, Beowulf and Monster House.

This does look interesting but i can't decide if i should blind buy or not.

I'm just the opposite. Movies like this get repeat viewings from me for the eye candy.

Seeing as i tend to mainly like action and horror movies, that's what i watch for eye candy. So obviously whilst animation does look good (in 3D) it's not something i get a huge amount of enjoyment from. I guess i just prefer watching real people perform.

Thanks for the info, sounds like one to avoid. Paranorman was alright but yeah the 3D was very weak.

There was tons of eye candy in this one, although admittedly the 3d tended to be mostly on the moderate end of the spectrum. From an animation perspective, it was an absolute joy to behold. From the stunning miniature hand-crafted world to the frame-by-frame intricacy of the motion.

Same crew as Coraline, which made excellent use of 3d. I'll be picking it up for sure.

I like live action as well as the next person, but I don't tend to rewatch much, unless it's a film with complex visual effects, or incredible actors. Once or twice is generally enough. But do you ever notice how much kids will rewatch an animated video? They tend to be designed with repeat viewings in mind, they tend to be visual and musical, as opposed to some live action films that rely on suspense and plot twists.

Although these days, the amount of films I can rewatch with out them getting old is not a long list. Time is in short supply.

From seeing it in cinema, there were a few moments that stood out, but for the most part, it was one of those where you stop noticing after a while. Possibly because you get absorbed in the story, it can be hard to say.

I'll have to reassess it when I get the disc, I find it easier to judge these things at home.

They use a unique system on these films with one camera shifting position to photograph both eye frames. On Coraline they deliberately kept the depth low so they could crank it up for effect in the otherworld. They also did stuff like building sets with forced perspective foreshortening for scenes they intended to be shallow.

Worth it... or wait? I did like Paranorman and Coraline, so tough call.

This was a really good movie and the 3d was pretty good if a little inconsistent at times. Their are more strong 3d shots than you would think and the 3d overall does add to the movie imo

I need to reassess the 3d again at home too and you bring up a lot of good points. I never realized how in depth they went into designing the 3d for coraline and I think that's awesome!

Ugh. Might have to go ahead then. There is 200 bonus points for it at BB. I have gotten spoiled over the 22-24 prices. lol

I actually got the UK Coraline/Paranorman combo pack for 9.99 so I shouldn't complain.
