Glad you liked it.

I'd consider the 3D on par with Paranorman's 3D, agree, disagree?

Agreed. Boxtrolls has mild 3d like Paranorman had. It still adds to the experience though.

I'm trying to cut back on buying animated movies as unlike live action, i watch them once and then they tend to just sit there. The only ones i can watch regularly are the ones that are made more like a live action movie, such as Tintin, Polar Express, Beowulf and Monster House.

This does look interesting but i can't decide if i should blind buy or not.

I'm just the opposite. Movies like this get repeat viewings from me for the eye candy.

I'm getting a bit tired of the run of the mill animated ones (not the Frozen's or Kung Fu Panda's!!). We need more good live actions like need for speed. I actually thought the 'upside down' movie was pretty well done.

BoxTrolls looked good from what I remembered of the trailer but im just gonna wait this one out and see if its a real keeper.

Sweet! That's about $22 USD for me. Only difference from the $28 Amazon U.S. version seems to be no DVD included.

Also noticed it says region B/2.

From seeing it in cinema, there were a few moments that stood out, but for the most part, it was one of those where you stop noticing after a while. Possibly because you get absorbed in the story, it can be hard to say.

I'll have to reassess it when I get the disc, I find it easier to judge these things at home.

They use a unique system on these films with one camera shifting position to photograph both eye frames. On Coraline they deliberately kept the depth low so they could crank it up for effect in the otherworld. They also did stuff like building sets with forced perspective foreshortening for scenes they intended to be shallow.

Was going to blind buy this... but $27.99 for week 1? Yikes!

Worth it... or wait? I did like Paranorman and Coraline, so tough call.

This was a really good movie and the 3d was pretty good if a little inconsistent at times. Their are more strong 3d shots than you would think and the 3d overall does add to the movie imo

Ugh. Might have to go ahead then. There is 200 bonus points for it at BB. I have gotten spoiled over the 22-24 prices. lol

I actually got the UK Coraline/Paranorman combo pack for 9.99 so I shouldn't complain.

Is their much additional cost with stop motion 3d though? I didn't think their was.

that's how I feel with Pixar's movies - the 3D effect on select movies is hit or miss, to pointless. The best *wow* conversion for Pixar in my mind is 'Monsters Inc.' Laika's is obviously 'Caroline'

Paul W.S. Anderson movies have amazing 3d! The depth gets stronger with each 3d film he's made! RE4, RE5, and Pompeii are reference quality native 3d movies with high medium to strong 3d imo

I need to reassess the 3d again at home too and you bring up a lot of good points. I never realized how in depth they went into designing the 3d for coraline and I think that's awesome!
