Default How long does it take you to watch a Blu-ray after you buy it?

You know, I'm frequently buying Blu-rays from Amazon or Best Buy, and not too long after I buy it, I get an email asking me how I liked the movie, and to leave a review. It's usually kind of a joke to me, since I know it may be months or years before I actually get around to watching the movie in question.

I just did a count of the first 100 Blu-rays on my shelf (arranged in alphabetical order), and 42 had been watched and 58 had not been watched and were mostly still sealed in plastic.

So I was just wondering if most other people also take a similar leisurely approach to digesting their Blu-ray purchases, or if you are more sensible and don't buy a movie unless you have plans to immediately watch it.

If it's a new release and it's a blind buy I will watch it within the first week or two of release. If it's something I have seen before it may be a few weeks or months before I get to it.

I usually pop it in when I first get it (to see if the disc works. Paranoid, I know). I used to be able to watch a movie the day I get it, but lately, I haven't been in the mood. So usually the day of, but within the week at the latest.

Brand new hot release? 1-2 days.

Opportunistic purchases where the price was right and I had interest? Shoot I have shrink wrapped movies from over a year ago I haven't opened.

Depending on the title... I've watched a lot of my more recent acquisitions, but I usually have a backlog of about 6 months to a year with the blu-rays I pick up.

Ranges from immediately to years (with the latter consisting of stuff of moderate interest to me, that I happen to find at Black Friday level prices). Sounds crazy but works for me.

It really depends. I have movies in my collection I bought months ago but haven't watched yet, like Munich, but then I also have ones I bought this week but watched immediately, like Charade. It's all about what I'm in the mood for when I scan my shelves.

Somewhere between a day and 10 years.

I have new releases that I put in as soon as I get back from the store and others that I bought back in 2008 that have never been watched.

I range from same day to a few months. I've been trying to keep my unwatched pile in check but the last 3 or 4 months I've gotten a little crazy with my purchasing so I'm way behind at the moment.

Some movies which I have been waiting for normally within a week/ 2 weeks. Sometimes I end up buying alot of movies and simply don't have enough time to watch all of them. I like that I always have something to watch. For Example in March I bought : Thor Ragnarok, Justice League, Call Me By Your Name and Star Wars The Last Jedi... I've only watched Justice League so far. I also buy older movies if they are on sale.

I feel like I'm buying movies to enjoy for my retirement. I used to watch new releases immediately...now it can take several weeks after purchase. I work too much and have been spending my spare time catching up on TV on the DVR.

Usually I’ll try to watch movies the day I get them. A few days later at the longest.

If it’s a complete collection or TV show, I usually try to watch everything in a few weeks or so.

That same day or multiple years later. It was a lot easier to keep up when I had a smaller collection and wasn't buying so much. At this point I have movies dating back to 2013 that I still need to watch.

If it's a movie I've already seen, it depends on how long ago I last watched it. Some movies I sold off the DVD a decade ago and haven't seen since. In which case, I usually watch it the same day.

Movies I've seen recently I tend to store on the shelve and watch when I am in the mood. A recent example of this was the Dirty Harry collection. I had that sitting around for a month until I spend a week revisiting them.

I've also expanded my collection significantly with Italian titles and always have a handful of releases on my coffee table to pick from and watch when I'm in the mood.

I'm not a bingewatcher, a movie needs to be solid for me to get through it in one going (yes I am a movie napper) so some movies I'll watch in two days, which is why chapters rule
