I feel so nuts for having bought the last 46" LCD only six months ago and be already thinking about a new one, all because I regret not picking the 52" instead.
Do you guys feel the same? I mean, you have a 32" and wanna pick a 40", then a 46"... 52"... 60"... and are never satisfied with what you´ve got? ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by blu lover; 12-18-2007 at 04:33 PM. |

I am not
Simply because my wife keeps reminding me that we are still paying off our latest TV. Sure I am thinking it would be nice to get a new TV in my bedroom to get rid of that crappy bleeding low quality Toshiba SDTV in there, but that is just not going to happen. |

The worst is that we buy the top HDTV today, and in a few months there is aready a new and better technology on the market for half the price.

We probably spent more money than we should have when we bought our home theater system but we did it just for that reason so we wouldn't feel buyer's remorse 6 months down the line.
Out of curiosity since the Toshiba / Paramount deal I have certain hate for Toshiba where I actually would never buy any of their products. But I also trash them as a company to potential customers every chance I get. Anyone else feel this way? |

I researched for 2 full years before buying my $3K Sony KDF-55XS955 HDTV w/ 2 HDMI inputs (one of the first to have 2) back in August of 2005.
I bought it knowing that 1081i was going to be the broadcast standard for a long time despite 1080P was just around the corner for other mediums, including the PS3 ability to use that standard. I didn't care because my TV has a great picture. Best if I may so amongst my friends in the below <$100K household income level. It has performed flawlessly and will continue to do so for another 5 years while I wait for the best of the best 1080P TV's or a new generation of TV type (OLED?) to work out the standards that won't change again for awhile. I could easily see myself getting us a Sony XBR4 or 5 tomorrow if I wanted to but 52" is not big enough. I need that 55" minimum I am used to now. I'm hoping for that perfect 65" HDTV of the future. Good luck with your decision, just make sure it is future proof for your needs for the next 5-7 years. |

I must admit, I've been itching to upgrade, but the cost is too much of a factor, and I really don't have another location for my current set. I've been trying to sell it, and almost thought I had done it, but a wife ruined the deal. REALLY, though, I will wait until I can get a 60-70 inch LCT flat panel for a reasonable price, unless there are features that come out that I can not live without.

It's really funny that this was brought up...
I own the 52" Bravia W3000. For a whole month I was thinking, "Woah... maybe this was too big a TV for me to get." But, now that I'm settled in my new place at the other end of the country and have mounted the TV to the wall, my opinion has completely flipped! Having been mounted for less than a week it has me cursing that I didn't go bigger! LOL |

The rule of thumb when buying an HDTV is to get the largest TV that you can fit into your viewing area (read: viewing distance twice that of the TV's listed size or 55" tv = 9.17') because like you said, once its up and running, you will always want a bigger one. Only floor/wall space and viewing distance can limit you (outside of $ of course).
In short, the saying of Bigger is Better certainly applies to HDTV's. Last edited by mgonzo2u; 12-18-2007 at 05:57 PM. |

Maybe I would feel that way if I had bought a 32" vizio or Olevia. Some garbage set. But I am in love with my XBR4!

That's why I got a 60", I don't have many more options, unless I win the lottery!

Alas, I live in Toronto, so I can't get it. If I import it, there is no warranty. Anybody know a set that is as good? |

I think I am getting a new TV for Christmas this year and that will make it the 3rd HDTV I have gotten in 3+ years. If I even mention wanting a new one, I think my wife would leave me.
