Default Was at Wal-mart

Somebody asked for a fullscreen version of some HD-DVD movie. Needless to say, he actually only wanted a normal DVD.

How many people do you think have bought an HD-DVD without knowing it won't work on their DVD player or that it is something totally different?

i would say a lot because people just see the words dvd in the name and think oh well that means i can put it in my regular dvd player but in high definition because of my hdtv. which is completely wrong. and full screen versions of hd-dvd dont exist the only closest thing is anamorphic widescreen but not all movies have that.

Cris tells me that all the time. There are many people buying upconvert dvd players and hd dvd movies since many of those players write hd or 1080 in the front.

yeah so that makes them assume that if they buy a blu-ray or hd-dvd that it work just fine. but like wb movies they say right on them for use with only blu-ray or hd-dvd players only and so does sony pictures but people dont read that. and like there was this mom who wanted bourne so she picks up the hd-dvd version and then she asks me why is it so expensive? i thought it was more like $17.99 and so i told her that it wouldnt work on any dvd player just an hd-dvd player

How many are even more convinced they have HD, when they put side B of the two-sided HDDVD into the SDDVD player...AND IT WORKS.

I read a while back that the return rate was a fairly high number, all things considered. I wish I had number to back that up though.

That was one of the master strokes for the blu ray camp. By name they separated themselves from regular DVD, leaving themselves little room for confusion.
