Star Trek Enterprise: The Complete Series Blu-ray

Didn't see a thread for this so thought I would start one. Looks like Best Buy has it available for preorder already.

"CBS Home Entertainment has announced the upcoming release of Star Trek: Enterprise: The Complete Series on Blu-ray. Previously only available as single-season sets in the United States, the Complete Series will be available on January 10, 2017.

The newly announced set will include all 98 episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise. On the outset, it doesn’t appear as though any new bonus material will be made available on the Compete Series set. However, the season sets (released in 2013 and 2014) came with a bevy of new and previously recorded extra features.

Some of the features found on the single season sets, included:

Audio commentary on select episodes
Text commentary on select episodes
Deleted Scenes
In Conversation: Rick Berman and Brannon Braga
Network Presentation
Syndication Presentation
On the Set

It’s also safe to assume that the show will be presented in its original 1.85:1 widescreen aspect ratio."

I assume it will be the same discs as what was in the individual releases as well as the all ready available complete UK set but we will see.

I didn't get the original Blu-Rays and didn't want the UK set even if it was playable here so this is good for me.

I got the UK set when it was on sale, but it seems like January 2017 is a weird time to release this. You'd think they would have done it during all the 50th hype.

There was hype for the 50th anniversary?

I must have missed it.

Now Doctor Who... that was some quality, yearlong hype. But Star Trek came and went with little to nothing.

Anyway, Enterprise was a decent show, and UPN killed it as it was finally becoming what it should have been all along.

The BDs were good. The effects look a little video game-y at times, but it was early 2000s CGI on a TV budget, so you can't expect much more.

I think this is more for building steam to Star Trek: Discovery than for an anniversary push. Paramount didn't really seem that interested in Trek's 50th anyway, where we just got a good new film, a blu-ray of an already seen alternate cut, and a few epik packs.

These seem more in line with hoping there will be fans of the new series seeking out the other ones, but the previous sets (while awesome at the time) are dated in their fairly high prices and lack of shelf friendliness. They're more aiming at affordable altrnatives for casuals now instead of hardcore Trekkies.

I have the individual releases, but I will just say here this is an underrated show every sci-fi/Trek fan should own. Use a skip guide for the first two seasons maybe, but there is good stuff there, and seasons three and four are excellent IMO. Get it!

The January date is for the DVD set. Presumably Best Buy's site has "blu-ray" listed in error.

That's just the MSRP, which is actually a decent MSRP. It'll probably be reduced to somewhere between $60-70 on Amazon by release date.

TODAY SPECIAL is $45.99 for the Blu-ray. Its actually a few dollars cheaper then the DVD set. Too bad I already have the separates.

Wish they’d redo the transfers for this release considering the underwhelming vid quality reviews for the first two season sets, but if they won’t do it for the TOS movies I seriously doubt they’d do it for Enterprise.
That being said, I don’t own these on Blu yet and I agree that this series is seriously underrated. Give me a good price point and I’m on board! Ask too much $ and I'll wait and buy it 2nd hand. Either way...

The only reason it got released in the first place was because they had existing HD masters. A remaster would not have been justified based on sales. 1-3 do look super soft, but it's still a nice step up from the DVDs and the new extras are great. Season 4 looks great.

I see Deep Space Nine us getting a new complete series set on DVD... I guess a blu Ray edition isn't happening? I guess I'll have to get the DVD since I don't own DS9 or Voyager in any format.

Deep Space Nine would need to be re-edited on film and have effects partially redone just like TNG. So it would be a major undertaking.

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like they have any interest whatseover. TNG needed to sell like millions of copies to justify DS9 remaster, and unfortunately even though TNG probably sold pretty well according to most blu-ray measures - their expectations were insanely high.

Still, this is a thing that there is pretty solid demand for, not just on blu-ray but also on digital. You'd think at some point even Netflix would demand HD upgrades to keep paying royalties. Or maybe they are just moving this all to CBS All Access so they don't really care?

Well, maybe not millions. Perhaps "only" about 500,000 units, which would've allowed them to recover the $15 million it cost to do the remaster in the first place, given a standard 50% profit margin. But those are like Game of Thrones numbers (per season anyway) or The Walking Dead. So yeah, insanely high expectations, I agree. Very hard to believe a 25 year-old show would have sold that well under any circumstances. A show needs to be brand new and hugely popular to sell like that (70,000+ units sold per season).

Look at a release like The X-Files: Collector's Set. It sold roughly 30,000 units after eight weeks. Multiply that by nine seasons, you're only looking at something equivalent to about 270,000 units -- and that's at a much cheaper initial price than TNG (per season). But, then again, Fox spent a lot less to remaster that show than TNG.
