Default PS3 Predictions for 2008

What does everyone think will be the future for the PS3 in 2008?
any major design change such as more compact form factor? Switch over to the 65nm chipset? Return of the chipset for full backwards compatability?

no to everything except 65nm

it was a few years before the ps1 and ps2 got a smaller form factor. and i don't see the 40gb getting ps2 playback anytime soon. here's hoping it getting hacked

I don't see the PS3 getting more compact for a long while.

I see no design changes in 2008, but defintely cheaper....$299 for 40GB version by X-mas 2008. Bet on it

It would cost them R&D money to redesign...they're already lost a lot money so they need to find ways to cut costs in parts and production.

At first, I was really bummed when the slim PS2 came out... coz I thought that I had to double dip... good thing Game Stop buys back hardware, so I was able trade-in towards the slim PS2. Good thing was that by the time the slim PS2 came out, PS2 was only $175. Whereas my regular PS2, I bought during it's release at $300. Anyway, if the PS3 does come out slim, it will be way later on.

Forget form factors and chipsets...what I MOST want to see is developers using the PS3 as the lead platform when designing games. I don't think we're too far away from it, either.

PS3 has nearly 9 million consoles installed now worldwide, and they're selling some 60,000-70,000 more per week than the 360. It's becoming worthwhile for developers to start leading with the PS3...its power and space advantages give them far more - and I'm borrowing the word from Epic's Mark Rein here - "legroom".

Default PS3 in '08...

I absolutely love my PS3 exactly the way it is...

I would just like to see games that will utilize my PS3 to 50% of its potential...even at 50%, it will be better than any game ever made for any console, period.

I do think PS3 will overtake 360 in total sales by end of '08 and I also think PS3 will be cheaper by mid year or so...even if that means smaller HD...the price will hit $300 in '08...

PS3 will have a phenomenal year!

blu-ray will win the war and more PS3s will be purchased, including another one by me. The increase in PS3 sales will lead to more exclusives and more games using the PS3's superior power. 09 will probably be the biggest year for PS3 and the console war.

The ps3 is truly a home entertainment center. You get bluray, games, internet, music, etc.

Just the release of the bowling game was a HUGE thing in my opinion. Everyone was at my house xmas eve and everyone was fighting to bowl. You could do this on the wii, but you give up so much else. With just this bowling game I see NO reason for a wii now. They just need an alternative controller that is easier to hold with sixxaxis AND A STRAP. I was paranoid all night somebody was going to launch my controller into my TV!!!

In 08 we'll get tuner capabilities too!!

I am redoing my game room and will put another tv down there, so I will end up getting a 2nd ps3 for that room!!

Well I'm hoping for video support on mkv files. That feature alone would sell tons of PS3s...

Is it true (read it from other thread) that the 40gb PS3 already uses 65nm? is this the reason why the 40gb is sooo quiet? compared to, say the 60gb?

Does your PS3 40gb or should I say PS3 250gb, is still quiet or does your new hard drive spins louder?

The most important thing for the PS3 in 2008 is to get DST-HD MA decoding.

You guys do need to hear those FOX titles in their full glory.
