BDP-S500 vs S300 - Blu-ray Forum

Question 1:

Will the S300 be able to update from Profile 1.0 to higher?

Question 2:

I don't understand the 200 dollar difference between these 2 players?
Can someone explain these 2 questions thanks.

I'm not sure if the profile will be upgradable in the future, although Sony released a new updare for this player about 2 weeks ago, Version 3.70. The S300 is a great Blu-ray Disc player; however, it does not support HDMI 1.3 and is not capable of Dolby HD, only 5.1, 2.1, etc...

Can you really tell a difference between HDMI 1.1 and 1.3?

Only reason I'm asking is because i'm thinking about upgrading to the S500 or would you recommend a different player?
