Too bad the movie itself was kind of lame.

I'd love to see New Line release the first Harold and Kumar on Blu, since the sequel is set to open early spring.

New Line always made the best lokking transfers on DVD, so no surprise they continue on BD. I can only imagine what LOTR will look like

They were decent for 1 viewing. Not something to own on blu or DVD, mostly a one time rental if you're looking for an ok flick to watch with a significant other.

And New Line needs to hurry up and get LOTR out on blu.

I was thinking about buying a "remastered" version of A Nightmare on Elm Street today. I realised it's by New Line...I hope they release that on blu.

New Line so far seems to have an amazing track record with quality discs so far. Now if they would only release movies I actually would want to buy.

Yep, bring on the big trilogies to Blu! Austin Powers, Blade and of course, LOTR!

New Line's partner in crime Mi-Casa Studio's have The Golden Compass and Harold And Kumar 2 in pre-production stage for Mastering in 5.1 / 6.1 and 7.1
Surround Sound.

So at least these two movies are planned by New Line and the great thing of it all is that they are blu-ray only

The best is that Pan's Labyrinth is their last HD DVD release, according to Bill Hunt at the bits:

Quote:
I spoke directly with a senior New Line Home Entertainment executive, who confirmed that not only is New Line following Warner's lead, Pan's Labyrinth is the studio's last HD-DVD release.
So all future releases are optimized for Blu!

I wouldn't say ALL future releases. Their April or so titles are what's in the production pipeline right now. Hopefully Golden Compass will squeek through with a Blu optimized compression.

But yes, definately stuff from May forward will be Bluer than Blu, including our now extremely tasty eventual LOTR releases

Yea, I got a little too excited there, should have caveated that, but I'm just glad to finally get more optimized encodes. I cry thinking of all the gigabytes wasted

id say Shoot Em Up was optimized for bluray. its possible they were planning BD exclusivity from the get go and decided to release pan's on the red side to test the waters.

just thinking out loud here

thanks

I actually thought New Line said their only HD DVD they're releasing (well, released I guess) was Pan's Labyrinth.

My complaint about New Line is their noise reduction and the fact they don't use a DTS ES 6.1 track for the core of the DTS-HDMA tracks.
