United Kingdom Documentary series/mini-series

A new series of Reported Missing starts on BBC One next Wednesday night at 9 pm. It was in the schedules earlier this year, but close to the airdate, it was removed from the schedules.

This Week on the Farm finished it's current series this past Tuesday evening/night (really enjoyed it. Something positive during the past few weeks). Replacing it next Tuesday is a new series of one of my favourite shows, The Yorkshire Vet (it's eleventh series).

Looks like it is indeed a new series of The Yorkshire Vet which has started tonight (on Channel Five), as the title sequence has a few differences from the last few, new episodes, shown earlier this year.

That was one of the best non-fiction programmes I've seen this year (referring to last night's season premiere of Reported Missing). Kept your interest throughout.

There are five editions in this new series.

Starting on Sky Crime next Sunday night (30th August) with a double bill, is HBO mini-series I'll Be Gone in the Dark (I think this is based on the Michelle McNamara book about the Golden State Killer case).

Have watched the first three parts of I'll Be Gone in the Dark. A very good mini-series so far. Goes into detail about the Golden State Killer case.

Starting next week is a new series of Crimewatch Roadshow (running from Monday to Friday mornings for three weeks on BBC One). The last series/season from earlier this year was cut short, due to you-know-what (about three or four editions short).

Also starting next week, is a new series (the fifth) of true crime documentary series Murder by the Sea on CBS Reality. It kicks off with a case in Bournemouth.

It is fascinating. Let's see if his filthy lawyers can fool a California jury like they fooled a Texas jury.

A new feature-length true crime documentary aired on Quest Red this past Saturday night called Jessica Chambers: A Murder Mystery. Airing next Saturday night is another new feature-length true crime documentary, called Kentucky Murder Mystery: The Trials of Anthony Gray.

There was schedule change on Quest Red this past Saturday night. True crime documentary series Atlanta Justice was replaced (after two editions) by a new true crime documentary series called Signs of a Psychopath.

Read in the new issue of TV & Satellite Week magazine that documentary series Ambulance returns a week on Thursday on BBC One (this new series will again be with the North West Ambulance service).

The last new edition of the current, seventh series of Ambulance will air a week on Thursday (not sure why, but I thought it was finishing this coming Thursday night). Airing in it's place this week is a programme presented by Patrick Kielty (this programme I thought was airing on another night this week).

A follow-up post to this part of the above quoted post from August last year.

I don't recall if Signs of a Psychopath was removed from Quest Red's schedules after a week or two, but new editions of the series are airing a week on Friday (11th February) on the same channel, replacing The Deadly Type with Candice DeLong (which finishes this coming Friday night).

This past Saturday night on Quest Red, when I was watching one of the true crime shows/documentaries I'd recorded, there was a trailer/promo for a new second season of American Detective with Lt. Joe Kenda (it premieres in the UK (I think) on Discovery. Hoping we won't have to wait until late this year before the second season airs on Quest Red (this is one of the true crime documentary series which stands above other similar series, due to Kenda's involvement (apparently, he writes all his lines).

Secondly, some one-off true crime documentaries premiering next week (source: TV & Satellite Week magazine):

- The Ripper Speaks: The Lost Tapes (Tuesday 8th February at 10 pm on Channel Five)
- Who Killed Billie-Jo? (Thursday 10th February at 9 pm on Channel Five).

Default Eden: Untamed Planet

Has there been any announcement regarding the release of this new series on bluray...or 4K? Like so many of the amazing things the BBC's Natural History Unit has done this one looks like a "must have" for me.

Peacock just released "I Love You, You Hate Me" which chronicles the making of Barney and the hate culture that followed.

It's really depressing.

'Fire of Love' (2022)

Extraordinary, moving, beautiful documentary about a couple (Maurice and Katia Krafft) who dedicate their lives to getting up close and personal with boiling bubbling volcanoes.

Some of the footage of old lava flows and explosions is stunning and looks like it could be shot by an old master like Kubrick. These two people are kindred spirits and the film, narrated by Miranda July, delves deep into their powerful bond.

One of the best documentaries of the year. 9/10
