Batman: The Long Halloween 4K Blu-ray

Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 will get a 4K UHD release soon. I assume this is a 2021 production. If not, please correct me.

Default Batman: The Long Halloween 4K UHD (2021)

[Show spoiler]

Comic Book Art

Quote:
Inspired by the iconic mid-1990s DC story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One begins as a brutal murder on Halloween prompts Gotham’s young vigilante, the Batman, to form a pact with the city’s only two uncorrupt lawmen (Police Captain James Gordan and District Attorney Harvey Dent) in order to take down The Roman, head of the notorious and powerful Falcone Crime Family. But when more deaths occur on Thanksgiving and Christmas, it becomes clear that, instead of ordinary gang violence, they’re also dealing with a serial killer - the identity of whom, with each conflicting clue, grows harder to discern. Few cases have ever tested the wits of the World’s Greatest Detective like the mystery behind the Holiday Killer.

There is already a thread.
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=336540

And the cover is a fanmade artwork originating from GeekGab's twitter feed. You can see that the resolution is much better on the top label than on the artwork itself. Maybe the official artwork will look the same, but this particular one is in that case an "upgraded" version with a better resolution label. In fact you see a blu-ray cover with this artwork in the offcial trailer.

Glad to hear the cover is fanmade. I thought it looks like hot garbage.

I edited my first post in case it is only doctored with a higher resolution top label. Actually in the youtube video on the page that the OP links to you see a blu-ray cover with this artwork. But it says "Get it on Digital and Blu-ray". I wonder if the 4K release is dropped or they just didn't put it in the official trailer.

One of the best Batman stories.
Maybe one day they will respect the stories they adapt.

I know that, but this was meant to be temporary until a better resoluted picture was released. Also, this thread is for BOTH parts of the story, not just part 1.

They didn’t mention the 4K for any of the other recent DCAU movies either.

After Hush, I am super weary of anything they release nowadays. I truly want to believe this can be a redemption... but I'm still skeptical.

FYI - I adore anything Loeb wrote for Batman, so I want to see this followed by Dark Victory. I'm just soured on the fact that Hush was done in that horrible art style in addition to the really crappy villain reveal.

I was so hyped for this movie when I heard they were making it. It's in my top 3 Batman stories. Now they decided to have my man Jensen Ackles voice Batman and my hype level went through the roof! I knew he could pull off a perfect Batman and the trailer confirms it.

Also glad that DC started using a new art style for their animated films as the previous was getting a bit stale since that's all we've been seeing for over a decade now. This cover art is horrible though.

My problem with Hush was that it took place in the Animated New 52 Universe. I feel they were trying WAY too hard to match everything with the original comic, like Batman's costume change, Harley being back with the Joker and in her jester's costume, not to mention the unnessassary swearing and that changing Hush's secret identity. It should have just been a stand alone film.

Hush was the least of the issues with this series.

Not since DKR. Shame. I hope DKR gets a 4K UHD release, I NEEDS IT. Same with Year One. Killing Joke is tolerable if you skip the first 15 mins.

A friend of mine had a reason for why the filmmakers didn't use the original comic's art style for the movie. They said, "Probably would be hell to do in animated format. Kinda like how The Beastars anime was chosen to be done in cg as it would likely be a major hassle to emulate the manga’s art style in 2D." I, myself, am not really sure about this theory.

Wait, what about Flashpoint?
Eh I'm not a fan of Flashpoint story at all, it was a lazy story to write off 30+ years of continuity which also gave way to much editorial control to Johns, say good bye to Kyle Rayner, Wally West, Superman, etc etc. New 52 wasn't a complete miss but it was not as good as what it was replacing.
