Warner Bros Batman: The Long Halloween 4K UHD (2021)

Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 will get a 4K UHD release soon. I assume this is a 2021 production. If not, please correct me.

COMING TO DIGITAL & BLU-RAY™ ON JUNE 22, 2021
JENSEN ACKLES, NAYA RIVERA, JOSH DUHAMEL,
BILLY BURKE, DAVID DASTMALCHIAN, TITUS WELLIVER LEAD ALL-STAR CAST IN LATEST DC UNIVERSE MOVIES OFFERING
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One will be available on Blu-ray as well as on Digital. The Blu-ray features a Blu-ray disc with the film in hi-definition and a digital version of the movie. Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One will be available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack at a later date in 2022 as a combined presentation of the film with Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two.

Inspired by the iconic mid-1990s DC story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One begins as a brutal murder on Halloween prompts Gotham’s young vigilante, the Batman, to form a pact with the city’s only two uncorrupt lawmen (Police Captain James Gordan and District Attorney Harvey Dent) in order to take down The Roman, head of the notorious and powerful Falcone Crime Family. But when more deaths occur on Thanksgiving and Christmas, it becomes clear that, instead of ordinary gang violence, they’re also dealing with a serial killer – the identity of whom, with each conflicting clue, grows harder to discern. Few cases have ever tested the wits of the World’s Greatest Detective like the mystery behind the Holiday Killer.

Lauded for his performance as Red Hood/Jason Todd in 2010’s Batman Under the Red Hood, Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Smallville) returns to the DC Universe Movies as the title character of Batman/Bruce Wayne. The late Naya Rivera (Glee), who passed away in 2020, gives one of her final performances as Catwoman/Selina Kyle. The all-star cast includes Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Las Vegas) as Harvey Dent, Billy Burke (Twilight, Revolution, Zoo) as James Gordon, Titus Welliver (Bosch, Deadwood, The Town) as Carmine Falcone, David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad, Ant-Man, Dune, The Dark Knight) as Calendar Man, Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Batman: Arkham Knight) as Joker, Amy Landecker (Your Honor, Transparent) as Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson (Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay) as Gilda Dent, Jack Quaid (The Boys, The Hunger Games) as Alberto, Fred Tatasciore (American Dad!, Family Guy) as Solomon Grundy and Alastair Duncan (The Batman, Batman Unlimited franchise) as Alfred. Additional voices provided by Frances Callier, Greg Chun, Gary Leroi Gray and Jim Pirri.

Chris Palmer (Superman: Man of Tomorrow) directs Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One from a screenplay by Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen, Superman: Man of Tomorrow). Producers are Jim Krieg (Batman: Gotham by Gaslight) and Kimberly S. Moreau (Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Butch Lukic (Justice Society: World War II, Superman: Man of Tomorrow) is Supervising Producer. Executive Producer is Michael Uslan. Sam Register is Executive Producer.

I'm going to wait for both to be released together. I'm tired of paying for separate releases and then combined later. These DCU animated are not high on my list of must watch, so I can wait (though I do enjoy them).

I do but they don’t have movies and plus they are still closed cause of covid. I’ll probably just rent it on demand.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One will be available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack at a later date in 2022 as a combined presentation of the film with Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two. Guess I won't bother with this next year if I have to wait for both parts in 4K. I'm sure I can find it in other non 4K formats between now and then to judge if I really need this in my collection.. If it doesn't impress me enough, I won't bother to purchase the 4K combo. If they released part one in 4K at the same time as the other formats I would have bought it day one. Then the completist in me would have had to buy part two in 4K just to have the whole movie. Even if I thought it was just so so. A lot can happen in a year. I may not even be still around to buy it in 2022. Look how many lives were lost this year and the last from the pandemic.

I was originally gonna hold off until the collected version. But now I'm interested in picking them up individually after I found out they've designed the tops of the slipcover spines with a connecting image. I looks like this year's releases may spell out "DC COMICS" filled with heroes inside the letters.

Now the only fault in my new interest to buy The Long Halloween in two parts to own the slipcovers is I currently have no interest in owning Superman: Man of Tomorrow, which I've seen, or Batman: Souil of the Dragon, which I haven't. LOL

Blu-ray review of Part One is up, which reminds me that this thread should probably be re-named since the eventual 4K release is for both parts only.

Short version: Movie's great. Transfer? Not so much.

How long does it typically take for these to become available for digital rental like on Amazon? I definitely want to see it but I知 definitely not buying it in two parts (and also would definitely rather have them on 4K).

Usually it's about 2 weeks but this release is a bit weird as they aren't doing early access. Instead of coming out early on Digital it's being released on digital and disc the same day so it might be available to rent Tuesday. But that's just a guess, we'll just have to see.

How accurate is it to the source material, we talking DKR, Year One? OR more of the same nonsense from the last few years where anything goes that they feel like inserting?

I'm still shocked at what they did to the end of Hush.

It stays pretty close to the source material. Some story bits have been combined and some characters have been left out, but nothing as jarring as Hush. The overall story is the same and they kept a lot of the details from the graphic novel.

I personally loved hearing Solomon Grundy say his nursery rhyme in his scene. That always creeped me out in the graphic novel.

I rather enjoyed Red Son, however, I've not read the source material so can't speak as to how much it may differ.

The atrocity that is Hush is the reason I'm waiting to hear reviews on this from people that have read The Long Halloween.
