I don't think any of us will know what to do with ourselves if these are ever released. It'd be too big of a shock to all of our systems. Maybe it's Blu-ray .com itself suppressing the release to maintain the natural order at this point.

Didn't even realize the old thread was shut down. It was the longest running thread for a non-existent release ever, so may as well. It could be 1 of 2 things: BR dot com have inside info on the status of the Blu-ray release(s). If it's bad news, they've closed the thread to prevent meltdowns. If it's good news, they've closed the wishlist thread in anticipation of an actual release and subsequent thread. Either way we won't know for sure lol

Prediction: Another 400 pages will come and go and there still won't be a BD or 4K UHD release of The Abyss or True Lies.

Assuming that the wonderful world of Bill Hunt and GeekGab doesn’t intersect with this thread, it won’t hit 400 pages again. As soon as someone begins posting what Bill’s anonymous sources said, this will go south like the last thread did (the endless crap on there, and me eventually going nuts about it, are probably the real reason they shut that thread down).

I've been watching out for a used copy of the open-matte DVD* of The Abyss so as soon as I find that at a thrift store or something and buy it, the 4K will get announced.

Worked most recently when I bought a used copy of Iria the Animation and the blu was announced shortly after.

*I know what I'm getting into.

Supposedly both movies are to be released this year (2023). Well we usually know 3 months in advance of a release date, so if we don’t hear anything firm by September 30th………..it’s not going to happen!

Strange Days has a German release on blu-ray. I'm lucky to have it. Would love to have it on 4K UHD, though. Its one of the best movies of the 90's.

Just noticed the old Abyss/True Lies thread was closed for some reason. I was going to ask, when could we expect an announcement if those will be released by the end of this year?

As usual I'll believe it when I see it. They were supposed to be out this past March if I recall correctly.

As for the old thread, judging by the activity immediately before it was closed and the posts that are no longer there, I would guess it was closed for discussion of "non-official releases".

Just FYI, if you use Vudu, they occasionally have an HD digital copy of True Lies for sale that isn't bad.

Vudu isn't available in Canada, sadly. I'm sure a VPN would fix that, but that's fine.

I ordered the Spanish copy of True Lies. Between that and the...other version of The Abyss I got on bluray a year or two ago, I think I'm set.
