Unhappy I could have bought a PS3 today! I wish I did.

I was in Best Buy at lunch tme to look at what movies were available and as I walked in, a lady was walking out with a brand new PS3 in her arms.

I walked over to the game section and asked the clerk if they had any more. He said "Yes, go over to the service desk." I got in line at the service desk and was the next in line. The guy ahead of me was buying a PS3. I saw the clerk ring it up: $599. There were 3 more units on the counter behind him.

When he finally called me up, I said I wanted a PS3. He asked which one. When I told him I wanted the 60GB he said "Sorry sir, we just sold the last 60GB unit. All we have now are the 20's." I said I really didn't want that one and walked out.

Was I stupid or what? I guess I could have put that one on eBay and tried to buy another one in a later week. I feel bad now about turning it down because I could have taken it back if I didn't open it.

Oh well, I guess I learned something here.

You made the right decision. I had the same opportunity at EBGames, but decided to pass. The 20 Gig version is by no means skimpy, but if you're throwing down the cash, might as well do it right

the hard drive is upgradable so unless you need wifi the 20gb is still a good deal.

Wifi would be important if you plan on doing anything with the PSP connectivity. If not, then the 20gb version shouldn't be that bad. (though with the games having to be installed, you'd fill that drive up pretty fast.

Well, the wi-fi and bluetooth would both be important. I wouldn't have to run Ethernet to my living-room. And bluetooth would be great if I decided to use the system for web-surfing via a wireless keyboard/mouse combo, or get the bluetooth remote for using it as an extra Blu-ray player.

both the 20GB and the 60GB have bluetooth. The only differences are the HDD size, the wifi, and the card reader.

If looks is your forte, then you'd pick the 20GB over the 60 gig if you want it in ALL BLACK.

Downside: The all-black finish is NOT GLOSSY PIANO BLACK. It is the black color that you find in your PS2.

Quick solution:
For those who want the 60 GB version and its glossy piano black clearcoat finish BUT are pissed off with the chrome trim, then you can try a professional paint job.

Paint the chrome out of that thing and the only thing you'll see on your PS3 is PURE BLACK GOODNESS.

Something similar happened to me today. A guy was standing outside a BB with 2 PS3 (20GB). He told me that he just walked inside the store and purchased them off the shelf. I asked him if he would sell me one for $600 and he told me that he would. I thought about it for a split second, but decided to wait for the 60GB. I could have been playing on my PS3 right now .

On an off-topic note, here's the current sale stats for next-gen consoles:

It looks like Sony sold est. of 300k units for the PS3. That IS LOW. But I hope Sony could still sell 2 million- 2.4 million units.

Selling just one million units for years-end is BAD. I do hope Sony can catch up for the remainder of the year.

But here's what you can do. Go to nexgenwars.com and look for the PS3 tag and click on "pick me".

The PS3 needs all the support it can get. Frankly, I'm starting to worry that they might (I said might not will) not sell 2-2.4 million units by years' end. And this could affect their goal of achieving 5-6 million units by end of March 2007.

There are 5 more weeks left till this year ends. That means 5 x 100k = 500k for Japan and N. America respectively. 500k x 2 = just 1 million + the current 300k = 1.3 million units ONLY (for Japan and N. America). Plus 200 from the Hong Kong launch and 300 units from the Taiwan launch. Then add the second shipments for HK and Taiwan which equals 500 (250x2).

You only indeed have 1.3 m units as of this week.

That's NOT ENOUGH and is indeed far from the 2-2.4 million needed for the period. We have to give PS3 sales a boost somehow.

If only Sony could start doubling production now. So that for the last 5 weeks of the year, they can sell for 1 million units to Japan and 1 million for N. America. That would already slot them within that 2-2.4 m sales target.

Because if they don't make it now, then they could have a harder time for the first three months of next year. We also can't rely to much on the March 07 launch for Europe, Asia/Pacific and Oceania simply because it is still uncertain as to how many units would be sold from then.

I know I may be paranoid but I certainly don't want MS to win over the PS3. Well sure maybe Wii can beat Sony's new console but for me, it is simply: WII AND PS3 BEAT XBOX 360 (BOTH INDIVIDUALLY AND RESPECTIVELY)

As long as XBOX 360 is in last place, then I'm all happy. That's what I want for it to happen so we can prove to those Flopbox360 fanboys that Sony's PS3 is STILL not a force to be underestimated with.

Hope you can give support and suggestions so that we can achieve the goal of dominating over the XBOX 360's sales figures.
