MGM will be releasing Bikini Beach (1964), co-starring Frankie Avalon & Annette Funicello, on Blu-ray on November 21st! This will be a MOD release, and from the looks of it, it will be pressed.

Finally! Bikini Beach has been available in HD digitally for at least a few years now. Here's a few screenshots of the HD streaming version of Bikini Beach that I posted in an old thread:

I can finally stop nagging the Kino Lorber Insider to release these movies because it appears MGM will release them themselves as I had been hoping:

Very good news! This will be my first pick up from the MGM MOD series. I hope to see the rest of the Beach Party films released, and I especially would like to get Pajama Party and The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini!

Before this announcement, these were the ones not on blu-ray but available in HD digitally:
-Bikini Beach
-Pajama Party
-Ski Party
-Fireball 500
-Thunder Alley

Based on the MGM MOD DVD of Sergeant Deadhead, MGM most likely has a HD master for that one too but it is currently only available to watch digitally in an awful 4:3 SD version.

So, if this sells well, there's at least 5 more that MGM can easily release

Varese Sarabande released a nice compilation CD back in 2006 called Summer Beach Party which contained songs from these movies:

It is one of the few places that you can find Nancy Sinatra's "Geronimo" featured in The Ghost In The Invisible Bikini (it's also on the You Go-Go Girl! compilation CD and the "Bubblegum Girl Volume 2" digital compilation album).

This is great news, but I had really hoped that they'd put the whole series out as a boxed set.

And thanks to whiteberry for the info on the Varese compilation. I wasn't aware of that release, and will grab it ASAP.

Sadly, that Varese Sarabande collection did not include Annette's wonderful solo song "I'll Never Change Him," which was presented in the initial release of BEACH BLANKET BINGO before being deleted from release prints. That song was later retooled for Deborah Walley as "We'll Never Change Them" in SKI PARTY.

I'm always surprised that the film which kicked off the entire series, namely BEACH PARTY, is not on Bu-ray and perhaps hasn't been digitally preserved.

So with BIKINI BEACH, we'll have BD releases of BIKINI BEACH, BEACH BLANKET BINGO, MUSCLE BEACH PARTY, and HOW TO STUFF A WILD BIKINI.

We also have the later BACK TO THE BEACH on BD as well.

We still need BEACH PARTY, PAJAMA PARTY, SKI PARTY, and GHOST IN THE INVISIBLE BIKINI.

Not my favorite in the series, but I might upgrade. The old DVD wasn't even anamorphic.
