Depends on StudioCanal. As far as I know, Lionsgate/SC retained the rights for the title in the US, similar to Kurosawa's Ran, and Godard's Contempt / Le Mepris among others. Like Contempt, we may see it released as a MOD title via Lionsgate.

Funny story that Janus is the reason it came back into copyright in the US in the '80s, then in '96 the a change in the law enabled StudiCanal to regain the US copyright to the film.

I picked it up last year. The BD is based on a 4K scan so it might be the same, except it might not be region free this time around. Ran went from free to locked, as did at least several of the Studio Canal titles.

Watch as the audio is even worse than the already bad sounding Blu-rays...

tfw a Japanese Laserdisc of the cut-down David O. Selznick edit is much better sounding than anything else

This is a bucket list 4k for me. With The Third Man and Le Samouraï getting 4k releases, my life is more complete.

God, this almost makes me cry. Just trying to imagine what the image and slip would have been. We did get two variants of The Crow, so there is hope, but The Third Man isn't as commercially known as The Crow. I have the UK steel of The Third Man, so I can always drop the 4k disc in that.
