Default Wishlists for 2025?

Viewers, what would you most like to see released on Bluray in 2025?

Some stuff I would love includes:

- Seasons 2, 3 and 4 of The Sweeney! (rumour is that Network were tantalisingly close to unveiling this before going into liquidation). Season 1 scrubbed up a treat on bluray and it's a crying shame that we haven't had the rest yet.

- Seasons 1 to 3 of Dempsey & Makepeace - UNCUT, of course, and remastered from the original elements.

- The Kenny Everett Television Show (BBC) - honestly i think this was more consistently hilarious as a sketch show compared to the Thames TV video show. Outrageous that it's not available yet. (A DVD set of this would be fine)

- A Perfect Spy - mid-80s BBC John Le Carré miniseries - there's a very no frills DVD of it, it's crying out for a bluray release remastered from the film negs (I expect the BBC still have them, as it's a 'prestigious' drama)

- MILLENNIUM - seasons 1,2 & 3 - the - the Chris Carter X-Files adjunct, all made on film, currently only available on a scruffy DVD - deserves the same bluray treatment that the X Files got

- I'll be fully expecting Blakes 7 Season 2. I just hope plenty of the film negs survived

- I'd love blurays of the classic BBC2 documentaries David Attenborough commissioned after Kenneth Clark's Civilisation and Life on Earth, namely Bronowski's ASCENT OF MAN and Alistair Cooke's AMERICA. Again I expect the film negs of these survive, and would be an amazing upgrade on BluRay

What all do the rest of you have on your wishlists?

I wouldn't say no to some Warner Archive releases of some British titles. Namely, Sitting Target, The Hill, The Night Digger, and The Squeeze.

Also, a UK release of Saint Jack and The Missouri Breaks (preferably by Indicator), would be most welcome.

Would love to see DS9 on BD finally.

Excalibur and Krull in 4K would be nice.

Destination Tokyo on BD is probably the next off my Cary Grant wishlist given that Monkey Business is with Disney and Gunga Din would most likely be....problematic.

Anything new to BD for Bogart, Jimmy Stewart, Claudette Colbert, Gene Tierney, Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck.

British TV - It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Dad's Army, Goodnight Sweetheart - on BD if only to give better compression and encoding than their current DVDs.

Wouldn't mind some TV-movies finally seeing BDs - By Dawn's Early Light, Son of the Morning Star...

Oh, and of course, Weekend at Bernies in 4K

Since this is the UK & Éire subforum, my wish list is The Duellists. It's never been released on Blu-ray in the UK!

Actually, that reminds me that I'd VERY much like to see their first film ('AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT') on bluray! It's only ever had a mediocre DVD release.

As a fan of Cinema Du Look, I’d like 4Ks of…

Les Amants Du Pont-Neuf
Diva
Subway

Also upgrades of the Doug McClure lost world quartet.

The Titfield Thunderbolt would make a nice addition to the Studio Canal 4K Ealing range as would Passport to Pimlico.

And if the materials exist, a Blu-ray of The Ghost of St Michael’s that matches the quality of The Goose Steps Out would be great.

Also, I’d like restored editions of Twice Around the Daffodils, Crooks in Cloisters, and Raising the Wind to join the Canal Classics line.

Proper new 4K restorations of the Bond films up to 1989 are needed on UHD.

Where Eagles Dare and Kelly’s Heroes also need the upgrade.

As for TV, if Network were still with us I’d want blu-rays of The Sweeney, Euston-era Van Der Valk, The Saint (Moore and Ogilvy), Soldier and Me, the Doombolt Chase and Fox. But it’s hard to see any of those happening in this country now. Maybe Imprint for The Sweeney and the Saint.

More realistically, I’d like to see the BFI upgrade to blu-ray their DVD of Jonathan Miller’s Alice in Wonderland.

As it is, I’d like to see Indicator, 88 Films, Radiance, the BFI, StudioCanal, Pathé, Gaumont, Arrow, Eureka, Carlotta et al just keeping up the good work they already do. Keep the steady stream of silent films, Euro horrors, obscurities, classics, 70s-80s Jackie Chan, Ozploitation, old favourites restored and favourite films I’ve never heard of coming!

For me, I hope 88 and Eureka carry on with their streak of HK movies and that by some miracle WB give Arrow access to some of their HK titles to be given a lease of life.

FFS, why has a mod moved a UK related thread to a US forum?

Bloody ridiculous. A fun end of year UK-specific thread has just been buried.

[Note] This post was written while the thread was still in the UK forum. I'm sorry mr. moderator I will rewrite it within 10 business days as I need to research what is available in the US, which I generally don't care about.

Hmm my wishlist is pretty large in general, maybe even innumerable. But I can focus on what I think actually has a chance of coming. I don't have any inside info, so it's based on rumours I've heard on these forums, extrapolating from similar things already out etc.

* Excalibur 4K
* The Dollars Trilogy 4K
* Titane 4K
* Possession 4K
* Something more from Zulawski: That Most Important Thing: Love, Mad Love, The Public Woman, Szamanka, My Nights Are More Beautiful Than Your Days
* More Mario Bava directed movies in 4K
* Older Italian movies, especially those with Mario Bava cinematography (1940s-1950s)
* Libido - I want to see Ernesto Gastaldi as director for once
* Jordan Peele „Trilogy” (Nope, Us, Get Out) in 4K (I just hope to get it packaged as a trilogy AND in 4K, both at the same time - I know OR option is already there)
* Twin Peaks 4K - I've never seen Twin Peaks!
* McCabe & Mrs. Miller 4K
* 7 Men From Now (Budd Boetticher + Randolph Scott)
* Westbound (Budd Boetticher + Randolph Scott)
* Miracle Mile, Cherry 2000 4K restoration with the short film Tarantella.
* Angel's Egg 4K
* Big Deal on Madonna Street (and other Italian comedies)
* More Yuzo Kawashima movies
* More Yasuzo Masumura movies

The BBC released a box set of Civilisation on Blurray years ago. It’s spectacular- the picture quality is phenomenal- I can’t see how it could be improved at all. It’s my favourite set of all time!

Sweeney series on Blurray is prob my number 1 for 2025 - like you heard from an insider they had remastered all but the last 2 episodes. Do hope they release it. Must be a quick win as they won’t have to pay much for restoration as it’s already been done.

Would love some more saucy British Sex Comedies - not sure how much demand there is for them though.

Would love Bottle Boys, but that won’t happen.

Hopefully 2025 will see more Russ Meyer (there’s at least 2 more to come) and more Jean Rolllin. Be intersted to see what Indicator roll out this year but it seems to be pre 1950’s heavy at the moment

Yup. Absolutely bloody stupid.

If there needs to be an 'International' wishlist section, then surely that can be added? Seriously don't see what the harm is having it left where it was

They done the same with the hmv code thread.

Not sure any American or Canadian will be needing a hmv discount code
