Lightbulb When the Onkyo 705...

I have made up my mind. I am going to upgrade to the Onkyo 705...well, eventually. I am waiting for the prices to go down on it or something. I really don't care when I get it. I definately don't want to be spending over $500 on it. When do you guys think they'll be lowering the prices?

Keep checking the web sites for sales on the 705. I'm sure the price will continue to drop as the year progresses.

Whoa! I just found a great, reliable place to buy electronics on Ebay! I found this Onkyo TX-SR605 for $300! It is brand new with nothing wrong either. This sounds pretty good to me...

Yeah, I was just throwing the $300 number out there so you get the point. Even the cheapest online vendor I can find (Tiger Direct/Compusa) has it for $379+ Tax and Shipping. That is the best deal I've seen.

I actually bought my Pioneer Elite from one of those "camera stores" on ebay, and it had me thinking 'scam' ...they wanted good feedback upfront and then they would ship it free. So im thinking scam, but the price was so good I gave it a try...I'll be dammed if it wasn't delivered in 2 days in mint condition. Been a year and not a single problem with it. So I can vouch that you can get a good item for cheap on ebay. Id do it again...and have my eye on an Elite 92 or a Marantz SR7002.

nuh nuh no.

I just followed your Link and seen that total price was $350...which I feel is a great price for the 605. And I was just giving my online buying experience to those who are skeptic of ebay. I had an excellent experience, and saved over $400 on my Pioneer Elite.

I have previosuly owned the Onkyo TX-SR604 and was extremly impressed, and if I needed a new receiver for good price, the one you linked to looked good.

I meant for the Elite. How much did you save? Also, I might be upgrading sooner than I though!

amazon.com usually has the best prices to match a great customer service/return policy.

Ebay can be a gamble...but can yield a great savings.

I am in the same boat and have priced out every reciever and am also waiting for the Onkyo 705 to drop in price the 605 is not enough for my uses, "you get what you pay for remember" don't skimp. later this year I'm hoping i can pick up a 705 for around $500 or so.

I bought my 805 from an ebay "store". Best decision I ever made. That's the only place that would ship to Canada so I ended up paying $750 US for a $1200+ CDN receiver.

No issues as of yet, I'm still waiting a few months to see if I get a huge bill from fedex in the mail for brokerage fees and import duties or not. ::fingers crossed::

I don't see what's wrong the Onkyo 605. The 705 has an extra HDMI port(go to Target for $20 HDMI Switch) and it has THX certification. Sure it can matrix 5.1 Uncompressed PCM to 7.1. Truthfully, I don't think it's worth the extra couple hundred dollars for that. And unless somebody gives me a few extra hundred dollars to spend on it , I think I'll be spending my money on the Onkyo 605 .

NOOOOOO!!!!! The Onkyo 605 on Ebay is gone ! Oh well . I shouldn't have waited . I'm sure at this rate though, the prices on recievers like the Onkyo 605(not saying I won't get an Onkyo) will continue to fall . Hopefully anyways.
