Default Question about Ps3 and Guitar hero 1 and 2

I just got guitar hero 3 a while back for the ps3 and my kids love it so much Im interested in getting the first ps2 versons. My question is does the ps3 (80gig) unit work with the ps2 games guitar hero 1 and 2 using the Les Paul ps3 guitar? Basicly is it backwards compatible

Thanks

I think the 80 gigs are backward compitable, so the game will play..... but the guitar won't

Yeah, you can play the game with a regular six-axis controller on the 20, 60, and 80gig systems, but can't play the game with the Les Paul controller. The controller itself is not backwards compatible, it only works with GH3.

If you have that fancy little thing that lets you use PS2 controllers, would that work if you had the ps2 guitar?

It will work but not with full functionality. If you play on easy only it wont be a problem but when you get to higher difficulities that require hammer-ons it wont work because you have to strum every note.

What fancy little thing are you talking about?

I have a thing I bought from Radio Shack that lets you use a ps2 controller and connects to your pc through USB. Is that what you are talking about? I would love to use that to play all 3 guitar heros on my ps3!

Ok. The games will play, if you pick up the Pelican adapter for the PS3. I can't find it to buy anywhere online though. I'm sure you can find it.

It will give you full functionality on GH1. GH2 will only have partial functionality, whammying, star power, and hammer-ons and pull-offs won't work.

Anyone know if the Nyko guitar that is coming will work with GH1 and GH2. Would have been smart for them to think of this since they covered the Rockband need.

It has already been confirmed that this guitar will not work with GH1/2 on the PS3.

Basically Activision changed all the guitar protocols to something proprietary to spite Harmonix, and the original games would have to be reprogrammed to accept them.

That's also how they're locking the rock band guitar out

The Pelican adapter does work for GH1/2 i own it, and it does work, whammy bar works, star power works, you have to press select, and hammer ons work for me.. but i really dont know what they are(i think they are when you hold the green but can press red and yellow for a red yellow, and it still counts cause you dont have to let go of lower frets..)
