Thumbs up ZULU - Looked fantastic

For the very first time Zulu was shown in HD on Sky Movies. It was a collaboration between Sky and Paramount. It looked fantastic. Next up is The Italian Job. Anyone else impressed by this.

I agree , it looked superb. Very clean print, big step up from the DVD . Shot in 'Super Technirama 70' so the quality was good start with although 'Spartacus' was shot in the same format, and when released on HD-DVD didn't look as good as this. Easily as good as 'Grand Prix' and '2001'

1080i Dolby stereo

I watched it last night on Sky Anytime. It was fantastic... the scenery and the colours were stunning. I look forward to this appearing on a BD sometime as I will definitely be buying it.

Yes, an all-time classic movie (Michael Caine's very first, I do believe) about a handful of British soldiers facing overwhelming odds and fighting thousands of Zulu warriors (based on a true story)! A must-have addition for the BD collection when it finally does come out in the US.

Amongst other things it is the film that gave Michael Caine his first credited big-screen role, although I think Stanley Baker was regarded as the main star at the time.

It's a bit of an institution in my family, mainly due to my Dad's love of history and the fact that it is bloody good film!

"Zulus to the southeast. Thousands of them"

Wish I could get Sky Channels in Orlando!

It is sort of like a Western... ish!!!. Just in this case instead of the US cavalry defending it's fort against all odds from hostile Indians (Native Americans) it features the British Army in Southern Africa defending itself against hostile tribesmen (The Zulus). The Zulu Tribes are usually regarded as the greatest warriors on the continent.

It is a true story, well told.

I've got the original Shaka Zulu series on standard DVD. A well made and quite graphic mini-series of the Zulu warrior in its time. I've always enjoyed movies about the Zulu, and would definitely pick up these titles if they were made available in the US on Blu.

I agree, Zulu looked stunning, I thought it looked as good as any modern HD movie I have seen, either on Sky or Blu Ray. Thankfully, Paramount have gone back to Blu Ray so we can look forward to both Zulu and The Italian Job finding their way on to BD sometime soon.

Is there a way to know when Zulu will be available on Blu-Ray in the U.S.? This is one movie I have definitely wanted to see in HD. One of my all time favorites ever since I saw it at the drive-in back in 1965 at the age of 10.
