Default Blu-ray show off title?

Hi I have some family in town that are coming over tonight. I want to show them Blu they have not seen it yet. I have a Onkyo TXSR875 and a full 5.1 system so I want to show them a movie that will blow them away. This is what I have.
1. 300
2. Ratattouie
3. Cars
4. Corpse bride
5. swordfish
6. POTC COTBP
7. Unforgiven
8. I am Legend
9. Con Air
10. XXX
11. T-2
12. Stargate.

Any suggestions would be good I am going to go buy and rent some movies after work today. Thanks.

If you'd use the search function, you'll find that there are too many threads about this already. Besides, Pirates, Cars, or Ratatouille have become the genereal concensus.

I would suggest Cars or I Am Legend. 300 would be a bad choice because it has a lot of intentional grain in the movie, and people who have not seen it before might think that it is just poor quality.

Well welcome and good luck. The visuals of those two in blu-ray have a serious wow factor. For live action I would have to say I Robot or Casino Royale if you wanted to buy another movie.

300 definitely from a Audo stand point...it's not something for a Visual Demo. 300 by far have one of the best Bluray Audio second only to Live Free or Die *Hard*.

If they like classics, use 2001 or Blade Runner to show how good an old movie can look on blu-ray.

Others...

I, Robot
Cars
POTC (any of them)
I am Legend
Casino Royale
Planet Earth Series
Galapagos
Sunshine
Live Free or Die Hard
Kingdom of Heaven
Spiderman 3
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Deja Vu (great scene at the beginning -- Ferry blowing up)

Rent Crank. Thanks a beautiful looking BD and fun for the entire family.

J/K about the entire family part.

However, if you want a great family flick that shows off the home theater check out Dan in Real Life. Great looking BD and terrific story.

But it does have a family friendly audio track. I don't know who came up with that one, makes me think of a little kid pulling the movie out, wanting to watch it with the family. Yeah, that ain't happening.

P.S. Ratatouille.

As a demo, my general preference is to show a movie with people rather than a cartoon/animation. People generally analyse, faces of other people more than animations and would be easy to absorb, understand and appreciate the details of facial expressions etc. This is my opinion of course.

Thanks everyone. We ended up watching I am legend. I had it up loud the sound had them jumping out of their seats at the end.

I would have suggested PotC: CotBP. That's what I had in my PS3 when my Mom and Dad came over to see my new XBR and they were astonished at the quality.
