Default Got my new kuro! now what?

Hey everyone, I couldn't wait and did purchase the 1080p 50in kuro and got about 450 bucks off at bestbuy! Thanks for all the tips on haggling and tv choosing etc!

Now what? I should have the tv tomorrow. I figure i'll burn that break in dvd, that's not too much to handle, but calibration etc? What are the things I need to look into for my new plasma? thanks again everyone!

well keep all the settings at minimum for the first 100 hrs. get rid of the black bars while watching tv. Professional calibration is about $300. Some people swear by it. Others don't. I say wait under the 100 hr period has passed, then feel it out. I haven't had a calibration done, so I don't have any 1st hand experience.

well that depends on how much tv you watch.

4 hr/day * 30 = 120/month
120hrs * 7 = 840 hrs so far. You're ready for a calibration.

Thought the Kuro's come pre-calibrated from the manufacture. Read that some where in this forum I think.

awesome doby! lol I was hoping you'd reply. alright i'll probably follow those settings for the first 150hr then follow along with the new settings.

So am I supposed to leave it on with those settings while using the break in disc and then rese the settings if I want to watch a movie inbetween?

How important is professional calibration after this?

Those reference settings are from someone with substantial contacts at Pioneer. They're not just someone's idea of what looks good.

Plug it in and watch it

Sorry just had to do that. I have the 50" and you are just going to absolutely love it. I concur with all, low settings for the first 100 hours, set with calibration disk after broke in and sit back and enjoy that thing.
