http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/ap/2...908544000.html

frankly, i feel bad for the guy, more for his family, son and daughter. The Judge are to make an example for all those celebrity out there who think they're above the law.

Our mayor in detroit stole 40 million dollars from city fund yet remain untouch, they oughta make an example out of him too

Tax Evasion is usually not an innocent whoops i slipped up mistake sort of crime.

It's thought out with intent of ripping off the gov while everyone else pays. The guy is/was rich, we're all paying taxes and he wasn't.

He deserves to be in jail. Live and Learn Blade!

I read that a while back, one of the actors on Prison Break was sentenced to a short prison term for a fatal car accident he was responsible for.

I don't remember who it was, but it's ironic that he will become a real inmate after playing one on television!

I agree what he did was wrong. But he cheated on his taxes which actually keeping him in prison for 3 years means he will essentially have no income and almost no taxes to pay (other than his current property) and our tax money goes to paying for his imprisonment. They should have severely fined him and put him on probation, him working in the movie industry would have generated millions in tax money from him and all the tax money collected as a result of ticket sales of his movie in theater and home video sales as well.

Wes got scammed by people telling him he didn't have to declare any income because (supposedly) nothing on the books defines personal income as taxable income. The same guys get on the radio every April and talk about how they haven't paid taxes in 12 years or whatever, and how the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that personal income isn't taxable. Wes was duped, and now he's going to prison for it so other people don't get duped.

Hopefully the sentence gets reduced on appeal.

Of course if he was a white guy he would have gotten off with a fine and a warning.

I'm surprised he didn't get off clean because he is a celebrity. Maybe he did. I have a feeling if it was me, the sentence would be double.

For crying out loud, he could have paid the money, interest, late fees, and all that crap. This doesn't make sense.

I guess in Snipes' case the glove DID fit.

I am glad they mad an example of him, If you're gonna do the crime, you better be prepared to do the time. I pay my taxes(making a hell of a lot less than him), he should have been paying his. I hope that gangster thief they call the mayor of detroit does time too. He is giving detroit a bad name(as if it wasn't bad enough already).

I completely agree here. If you commit a crime, you do the time.

He should be thankful. Being in prison means he can't get in trouble for not paying his taxes.... hyuk, hyuk...
