Default Will the Transformers BD release have much significance?

I am guilty of being one who has fought the good fight, the Blu fight, the PS3 fight, since late 2006. Beaten & Battered, and with one HiDef format left on the side of the technology super-highway like a heap of digital roadkill, I still can't help but find myself feeling as though life will not be complete until HD-DVD deciples witness the Blu-ray release of their crown jewel; Paramount's Mega-hit, Transformers.

The movie that Microsoft gambled their entire HiDef existence on and lost is still left with no BD release date. I feel that once Transformers is released on Blu-ray, we can all put the Hi Def war fiasco behind us and get on with our lives once and for all.

I need this. We need this. Optimus Prime needs this.

I am really looking foward to adding this movie to my BD collection. However, there have been dozens of threads and thousands of posts on the subject. At this point I have buried Transformers in the back of my mind, and won't even think about a Blu-ray release until I see an announcement.

I think Paramount is trying to keep the agreement with microsoft so they don't have to return the $150,000,000

Great post! This is completely different angle of thinking.

I think Paramount feels the same way. They'll feel like it's release on bluray will get thrown back in their face.

I highly doubt that is the case. I say that because Paramount is already releasing other blus.

What is probably more likely, is that, since Transformers 2 will begin shooting in three weeks for a Summer 2009 release, they will hold off on releasing the first one on blu-ray until the new movie is nearly upon us. That's what my money is on. Hopefully they wil release the extended version shown in IMAX theaters.

Transformers being released on BD will have significance to all us early adoptors. It will be remembered as the quint essential BD pulled out from under our feet. Transformers is the unknown soldier and symbol of when once there existed a war for HD dominance.

Someone one gave me Fast and Furious on HD DVD as a joke the other day.

I use it as a coaster.

I'm going to buy an extra copy of Transformers to keep in MahPants.

I might be mistaken, but I think I remember at the begining of the Next (Nicolas Cage) DVD (yes the DVD not Blu-ray), the preview of Transformers had a coming soon to Blu-ray logo at the end. I think there was also an HD-DVD logo in there as well so it may have been an old preview they just tacked in there.

Anyone able ot confirm? I already sent it back to NetFlix.

I'm sure MB would like to see it released too.

But, don't live in the past. Iron Man and The Dark Knight on BD are BOTH going to make Transformers look like a pleasant indie release.

I cant say nothing about Dark Knight, but Iron Man does nowhere near compare to Transformers. I didn't leave Iron man wanting more like I did Transformers. I seen Transformers 3 times in the theater. Iron Man 1 time and that will be it for me. It was good but not mind blowing.
