Default Robocop and Red Dawn making a comeback?

http://digg.com/movies/MGM_to_bring_...Robocop_series

At the Cannes Film Festival, John Milius (Red Dawn) said that Red Dawn is up for a re-make. The studios Harry Sloan and Mary Parent also confirmed that 1987's Robocop could have a new version as well.....

It may be possible that these movies might see the theaters once again...

A remake of Robocop with today's special effects would be awesome....

Robocop/Murphy - Edward Norton
Dick Jones - Samuel L. Jackson

Bleh. Robocop is as much a commentary of the times as it is a Sci Fi/Action movie. They should leave that one alone.

Peter Weller is -- and will forever be -- Robocop! No one can replace the great Weller! And as far as Red Dawn goes, I don't think they could ever replace performances that made Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, Jennifer Grey, Lea Thompson, and C. Thomas Howell household names! Just leave it alone, Hollywood!!

They can remake only the special effects such as Ed 209 screaming like a baby after it fell down the stairs.

Weller has offered to climb back in the suit ONLY if they can get Verhovan back

I'd love to see his take on the 2K oughts.

If they remade it the Ed 209 would fly now or something silly.

I agree. maybe if they remake it they will actually film it in Detroit, instead of Dallas, lol.

also if they redo Red Dawn, who is going to be the enemy, I'm not sure if the Russians would work now. And the idea of terrorists taking over the country is ridiculous.

Why don't they redo some of the awful movies they made, maybe try and make them watchable!

I hope they don't re-make RoboCop it will never be better than the original. They could throw millions at it but it will still come up short of the original. (in my eyes anyway) Just take a look at some remakes of old classics, on the whole they stink. I would rather see a sequel. I did read somewhere that Paul Verhoeven was interested in doing something with RoboCop.

Why remake either of them? I've got a novel idea. Come up with a new, original idea and film that.

Looks like Robo will be back in 2010. That poster looks incredibly bad.

Brings a big ZERO excitement. How about this hollywood tidbit: Sony is doing a live action SMURF movie. Yeah, I know.

It's easier to name the films that aren't getting a remake.

I would rather see a sequel as well. Not a re-make.

Rambo (20 years), Rocky (16 years), Die Hard (12 years), T3 (12 years), Indiana Jones (19 years), Superman Returns (19 years after 4 but it was a sequel to number 2 but different actors so 25 years) those were all sequels with long breaks they are even doing a Beverly Hills Cop 4.

Robocop 3 was in 1993 and there was a 4 part mini series in 2000 Robocop Prime Directives.

SR is not a sequel. The movie is set in 2006: Kal-El would be in his 50s.

New Robocop could be interesting...

Red Dawn as well...if they're done right.
