In Canada: I'm using the largest Netflix-like service. Zip.ca
Since joining, I've received 15 titles. I check the condition of every one, and the results so far: A fine 1cm scratch on one disc, and 5x5mm v shaped mark on the other. Pristine otherwise, and absolutely zero troubles playing. Rental is a joy with Blu-ray. Another selling point that the rental companies need to wake up and exploit. Especially the mail-based ones where consumers might fear the condition of discs sent through the mail. Gary |

Blockbuster online does carry blu-ray and hd-dvd. Also for us PS3 owners we get a free in-store game rental each month.

I have been finding that Netflix's BR titles are almost always available, that hasnt been the case with BB in my experience. Almost every BR title I have reserved with BB has not been available and has shown as a "Wait".
While I agree that BB has a great deal, it does me no good if I cant get the movies I want (BR titles). For now its Netflix for me. Plus BB interface is inferior to NF IMO. |

I agree, Netflix has the BR movies "on hand" and i receive them in about 2 days. I've heard of BB having many "wait " titles on hand. Even though the game rentals are nice, I'd rather go with Gamefly with my games. Netflix overall: i give it a 9.

Does anybody know if BB doesn't immediatly show a new release available in blu-ray format, does that mean it will probably be a long while, if ever, that they will get it in stock? Example: When crank was released, it showed for rent in blu-ray the same day and I put it in my que. Employee of the month came out last week and it still doesn't show it available in blu-ray. So I wonder if I should just rent it on regular DVD rather then wait months for blu-ray format.

The newest BD my local block buster has is The Covenant and they just got it in. The selection bites and I agree with the online waiting thing. Right now AvP says available, the rest say coming soon or very long wait.

I've noticed Netflix will say "Long Wait" or "Short wait" on quite a few BD titles, but so far i always get them the next day as soon as i add them anyway...so i just ignore the availability part. Latest example was Employee of the Month, it said Long Wait when I added it to the top of my list but as soon as they got my other discs back they shipped it right away.

I actually just broke down and got both. I got the cheapest plans that both places offer so its only $11 a month and I get 4 DVD's per month. And its working great so far. Netflix is sending me movies that BB still has on long wait.

I just cancelled my BB trial membership because they only shipped one movie in a weeks time. I had 24 blu-rays in my list with all rentals returned and only received the omen last week. I think I rented maybe 6 or 7 during the prior month but couldn't get any to ship late in the month. I think everyone who got a PS3 for X-mas signed up in January.
I'm going to sign up for Netflix until my local Hollywood Video starts carrying them in store. Their plan is more expensive but allows more rentals than either BB or Netflix since you can rent/return/rent all day long. I still have to drive up there but I like the idea of being able to get a new movie anytime I want. |

uhh...can someone please post a link to blockbuster site where I can access blu-ray dvd rentals. I can't seem to find where to rent them, so I came here to ask. NetFlix on the other hand is apparent.
I'm subscribed to both NF and BB at the moment, trying to decide which to drop and which to keep. So far, I like the NetFlix site more, but BB is way more convenient and generous in terms of free rental coupons on a regular basis and in-store dvd exchange. In short, you get a lot more for your money with BB. Thanks. |
