Post The Must Own Blu-ray Collection

I would say that these are some of my favorites based on not just AQ/PQ but for the movie itself. For instance Sunshine. I liked it ok and the AQ/PQ were very good but I just don't think that the majority of people, like myself feel that the actual movie was so great. Very cliche. Actually almost exclusively cliche. Maybe the most cliche movie of the year! I am an Event Horizon fan as well as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Aliens, Predators, I, Robot, Blade Runner. The list goes on but I don't put Sunshine up there with them s far as Sci-Fi. So it isn't on the list nonetheless.

only movies that are currently available in the U.S. on a widespread level.

Wink I know it's a lot of choices but........

What the hell, I added Sunshine and 99 others. Take your pick. I think it can serve as a good reference to anyone starting a Blu-Ray collection and its' fun to see what others think.

well the point is to see what the best Blu-ray is to own. or Blu-ray's to own. or most popular Blu-Ray. If I was new to the site I think it would be very insightful. It is also interesting to me to see that The Fifth Element is leading early. That's cool. I don't own all of these so maybe I am looking for some ideas on movies I have yet to see.

i think it was a good initiative. You had to know you weren't going to satisfy everyone.

dave matthews was my "sleeper". I absolutely love that blu ray. It's like a private concert every time put it in.

Why is there an "either" beside X-Men? Isn't part 3 the only one available at the moment?

I voted for several of them but if I had to limit my selection to 10 titles and also take them just from your list, I'd go with the below movies (in order of preference):
  1. Sunshine
  2. Independence Day
  3. Twister
  4. Close Encounters
  5. Black Hawk Down
  6. Kingdom of Heaven
  7. The Day After Tomorrow
  8. Resident Evil
  9. Man on Fire
  10. Casino Royale

Post the usual top dogs

Casino Royale
Planet Earth
Pirates of the Carribean
300
I, Robot
Ratatouille
Cars
The Fifth Element (Remastered)
Blade Runner
3:10 to Yuma
Live Free or Die Hard
Spiderman Trilogy - thanks cajmoyper

These are the best Blu-ray's to start a collection with for sure. These are the consensous picks. I'd say it's spot on, even though I am not into "Pirates", I acknowledge the fact that it is a must own.

There are some movies on there that can't hold a candle to any of the Spider-Man films, but no Spider-Man movies?
