Default Kung fu Blu-rays

Okay, I've bought War, Enter The Dragon, and Rush Hour 3. I'm also trying to find Kung Fu Hustle, Dragon Tiger Gate, and some others I found at Fry's.

But when are they going to put MORE kung fu movies on Blu-ray?

I also forgot to add that I have Bulletproof Monk.

Can someone recommend their top 3 kung fu movies?

I have Kung Fu Hustle, which I wouldn't necessarily count, but I'm looking for others. I've been learning Chinese for the past few months, and I want to get a couple more to immerse myself in the language, to try to see how much I'm progressing.

I guess in that case, they don't necessarily have to be kung fu movies, as long as they are in Mandarin, but I'd rather have some action to look at while listening.

What about "Dragon" (The Bruce Lee Story) with Jason Scot Lee (although it's not really a kung fu movie per say)? That was an awesome movie and Jason Scot Lee is my role model to hit the gym every day. I can't wait until this movie comes to blu

I would recommend Flash point, Dragon Tiger gate, SPL(not on Blu) and Infernal Affair (which inspired the Departed). 3 of those are available on Blu ray. The first three title are Intense and raw martial art films.

I recomend finding a copy of No Retreat No Surrender. Its about a kid who gets beaten up by Jean-Claude Van Damme and goes to Bruce Lee's grave. Bruce Lee's spirit trains him and the kid kicks Jean-Claude Van Damme's ass.

One of the all time Shawbrothers classic is Master Killer a.k.a '36th Chamber of Shaolin'. The IVL edition I linked to has a decent transfer and includes a Cantones and a Mandarin track plus English subs.

A classic Jackie Chan must have is Snake in the Eagle's Shadow. The Hong Kong Legends releases are the best you will find (if you can play PAL discs). Mandarin audio plus English subs.

And for some Bruce Lee action I recommend Way of the Dragon. The release to get would be the HKL, but the linked 2 disc set (with a movie I don't know) is the only still available disc with a Mandarin track.

Although none are in Blu ray yet except Enter The Dragon and Dragon Tiger Gate,

Old school 1970-1990
Enter The Dragon (Bruce Lee)
Fist Of Fury aka Chinese Connection (Bruce Lee)
Magnificent Butcher (Sammo Hung)
Eight Diagram Pole Fighter (Gordon Liu)
Shaolin Master Killer aka 36th Chamber Of Shaolin (Gordon Liu)
Five Deadly Venoms

1990-Present
Iron Monkey (Donnie Yen)
Fearless (Jet Li)
Legend Of Drunken Master (Jackie Chan)
Dragon Tiger Gate (Donnie Yen)
Kill Zone (Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung)
Fist Of Legend (Jet Li)

If you are not necessarily a fan of Kung-Fu you would probably find older Jackie Chan movies the most entertaining as they have a lot of action and comedy. His top 3 Chinese movies I would recommend:

Project A
Legend of Drunken Master
Police Story

You probably will not find Project A anywhere that is not dubbed. I had to import mine from China to get it in Chinese. So, in replacement of Project A I would have to say Supercop although it is more action and less comedy than the others I mentioned. A lot of other good recommendations on here as well but I think if you are not in particular a kung-fu fan sticking to Chan, Li, and Lee are your best options - at least to start with.

As for more modern I would recommend starting with House of Flying Daggers, Iron Monkey, Crouching Tiger, and Fatal Contact for a more modern timeset. Personally, I thought Flash Point lacked a lot - but it is on Blu and has a few good scenes.

Hero will be spectacular once it hits Blu-Ray. Sure the audio is beautiful, but the visual will be breathtaking with the vivid colors.

Sure they could mess it up, but the potential is awesome.

I watch a ton of Kung Fu stuff. Hero, Fearless, and Fist of Legend would be great. I'd love to see the PQ for House of Flying Daggers fixed.

Although not a kung fu movie but it had some great martial arts fighting in it would be Brotherhood of the Wolf.

Black Mask
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Dragon
The Octagon
Ong Bak
Tom Yum Goong
Rapid Fire
Shaolin Soccer
Storm Riders
Twin Warriors

...would also be fun to see on BD.

I bought Golden Flower BD the day I got the PS3 . It was blind ,simply beacuse I wanted to see the PQ for this type movie first.

I can not wait for HERO ,and House of Flying Dagers on BD.

Another classic not mentioned yet is 7 Samuri !

there is only a handful of Blu-rays out as of now a good site to check is ddd house
