Final Fantasy XIII no longer PS3 exclusive - Blu-ray Forum

This is huge, MS just announced this at their E3 conference.

Thought this may be thread worthy. Didn't see it posted until just now.

Wow that is huge, and yes it's confirmed as it was announced during the MS press conference at E3 just now. I'll admit I'm probably going to get it for the 360, unless PS3 has something else planned for it they'll announce at their press conference.

I think I'm no longer going to buy it out of an anger move towards SquareEnix. It will have to be compressed significantly to work on the Xbox and I doubt the PS3 will get its own encode. Way to drop the ball Sony, M$ definitely has the upper hand and E3 right now

That was just bulls*it. Just when I was starting to respect MS, there we go. Deep wallets make a difference. Why can't Sony ever do the same thing and buy? Still theres always tommorow.

You're criticizing a company for buying into the best product? If Microsoft didn't do everything possible to get the best games available it'd be a disservice to their stockholders and Xbox 360 owners.

i wonder how many discs this game will need to be on for the 360...

that thought aside, this move by Square will make them tons more money by releasing it on both systems.

Do you know anything about a business? That is what a busniess does provide what the customer wants. MS did just that. If you should be mad it was should be at Sony for not locking into the PS3. Like it or not is all about the money. If Square thinks they can make more money doing this guess what they will do it.

Again its all about business. The reality is ever gamer is just a number in spreadsheet.

That's right.

That being said, few companies should know MS's games better by now than Sony, so I would like to fantasize that Sony knew this was coming and has some kind of a response to it, preferably of the much needed shock and awe variety.

It is a business and they have to make their stockholders happy that is the way it works. I can see in the future that the only exclusive titles for any system will be by the system makers themselves. Games cost way to much to loss out on millions of possible sales. This is just the beginning be prepared and get over it.

What makes you think M$ paid for FF13? If anything Sony didn't pay to keep it. What incentive does FF13 have to only be on one console? They would make a lot more money on two. It's Sony that needs to work on keep exclusives.. or maybe even working with some devs for simple trophy support. It's getting pretty bad.. I think Sony is headed down the wrong path.

Btw, I can only imagine how many PS3s FF13 would have sold if it were exclusive.

Of course. Like I said, it is in Squares best interest to do x platform. Why would M$ have to pay them for them to do something that would make them more money? Companies pay for exclusives.. that would mean Sony paying for FF13.. which obviously did not happen. Sony already stated their financial plans.. and that does not involve paying up for squat it seems.. even their biggest asset of the past 10 years.

At least we have God of War.

My guess is that Sony made them an offer to stay exclusive, but M$ offered Square even more to go multi-platform. Sony REALLY should not have let this one get away.

No good! Guess the graphics are gonna suck and probably 1 less game im getting cause it's gonna get down graded!!! I really hope it does'nt get messed up.

This is Square's fault. You don't say something is EXCLUSIVE/"Only for Playstation 3" unless it is. Basically, Square lied to the fans. That's all.
