Default "Lost in Translation" Blu-ray Release?

I personally love this film and was kind of hoping that it would at least get ported over from HD-DVD about now after the death of HD-DVD. Any info, thoughts on a Blu release, or even if a special edition DVD for the film may be released?

There are rumors about a special edition, maybe even steelbox over at my local Blockbuster. I'm not for sure on this though.

Talking Wow!

I would be totally pumped for that. I'm the first one to say that I think some Blu-Ray discs are too expensive but you know, I'm also the first to pay MORE for basically somthing I already have with a few bells and whistles. XD

I am waiting for this one, too, and I am quite optimistic that Universal will soon release it on BD. I am also waiting for another Sophia Coppola film "Marie Antoinette" which was announced by Sony back in early 2007, then delayed and never heard of again.

The HD-DVD didn't show much improvement over the DVD. It's a great flick though, so I'll probably get the Blu-ray when it's on sale.

i started a thread about this a couple of months back too. the hd dvd version showed great potential but also had some lousy moments too in terms of pq. i really hope when it is finally released it's not just a port.

tbh i don't think coppola/the studio has really paid any attention to this film on home release. the supplements aren't great (what, no commentary?) and i'm not holding my breath for a blu release any time soon, although i'd be willing to pay a premium for it.

"What? Lip them? You want me to lip them?"

"Oh Mr. Harris! Don't touch me! Mr. Bob Harris! Just rip my stockings!"

So any word on this yet?

I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I have the HD DVD but would buy a Blu-ray release without a moments hesitation.

I'd like a good Blu-ray of this, but the master used for the HD DVD was pretty disappointing, barely any improvement in terms of detail over the DVD. And unfortunately since it's Universal the chances of a new transfer are virtually 0. Might buy it if hits $10 though.

A horribly xenophobe movie such as this one doesn't even deserve to be on VHS, let alone blu-ray. Well, at least that's the opinion me and my wife have of it.

How is the film xenophobic? Of course there's a juxtaposition between the two cultures, and Japanese society is still dealing with a lot of xenophobia. I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say the film did wrong.
