Question Online or single player?

I see that games are more and more focused on multi-player than single player. Like for exemple Resistance 2, there is a lot more talking about the multi-player than the story mode.

I'm curious to see how many player do prefer online gaming than a story mode game like uncharted.

For my part I barely play online, everytimes I've played Resistance or Motorstorm online, I'm always farrrrrrrr behind every ones... and it is not because I'm a bad gamer (at least not when I play against AI...) so I feel like playing against a bunch of teen who spend 40 hours a weak on games, so they really know every corner of every map... but maybe it is just because I don't try enough..

Normaly always go through the story mode first, then see what multiplayer has to offer afterwards.

This was a tough decision to make.

I love SP games, and dont believe that every game requires a MP aspect, but I'm completly fine that Warhawk is MP only cuz it kicks ass and I logged many..many hours in.

MP adds so much longetivity, i fine the only people who really don'y like it is people who haven't really tried to get into it enough.

You are probably right about that... I can't say I spend much hour into MP.

Most of mine are single player, but I love multi player on the same console. Most of my friends don't have their own PS3, or just don't have the same games.

Thanks for the info I was on the fence about Warhawk, but now that I know it is only MP i will not buy it. I tend to suck at gaming and would just be target practice for other players and that wouldnt be much fun.

the only games i really prefer to play online are sports games, because there is really no story line to focus on, but the bigger part of my gaming enjoyment comes from a single player game that has an excellently written story to go along with the actual gameplay, like metal gear solid series, god of war series, oblivion, etc...

I like "Single-Player mode" stereotype because typically they have the strongest story and best game-play value to them.

I prefer to complete a game in single player / story mode first. After I am comfortable with the game then I will play it online, preferably with some people I know. For Example - GT5P I completed A, B, and C classes before I ever played online. I started playing online to earn more $ to get extra cars and eventually completed S class. Honestly GT5P online is awesome, especially racing people from around the globe and every race is different since you are racing against people and not AI.

I will forever and always prefer single player/story driven gaming over online multiplayer. Multiplayer should always be treated as bonus in addition to the single player game like in Metal Gear 4.

I don't think I've ever played a game online. I'm more then happy with long winded story lines like RPGs. It is hard to duplicate that kind of story online. I programed a MUD, and they are static worlds with very little interaction from the players other then by the creators forcing the change based upon interaction. In the 5 years I've been playing/working on it, there's only been 2 instances of player interaction directly affecting the world. Single player games allow for that kind of change easily without affecting players that didn't see that area.

Single player.

There's too many nerds/kids/losers/d-bags online to ruin my enjoyment of a game.

I see you remade this thread.
Well like I said, I play offline and single for most of the games. However I occasionally like to play Chessmaster 11 online against others that happen to be on the servers

I anybody else a little disappointed that Confrontation will ditch the campaign mode? I understand that the SOCOM series have a strong online following but for me the beauty of that game was to painstakingly sneak past unsuspecting sentries without even having to fire a shot.

You can't so this in multiplayer, methinks. Everybody is running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

I will still buy it, though.

Well I have two games that I play a lot. That's Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and Soul Calibur IV.

Both I am almost refusing to play online anymore because of the cheating aspect online and plus in the case of SC4, I keep getting matched up with level 40's when I'm only a level 1.

They have souped up custom fighters (when I selected REGULAR with no special weapons or gear) and I have zero chance.

In the case of GT5:P these cheating ass bastards keep running me off the road. Plus they all have souped up cars and there's really no balance there.

I'd love to race online in the Audi TT but everyone races in the fastest car possible (obviously) and they HAVE to have tuned them *****es up because I have a car with higher horsepower than them, and they're blowing right by me.

I have the second fastest car in the game (the 1st fastest isn't allowed on the track for whatever reason).

And these are BEGINNER tracks.

Until they can balance it out so that it's more evenly matched up, then there's no point of going online.

I like the idea of online play, but it's just not an even playing field, and there's too many cheaters.

Here's my break down

1. Story Mode with Online Co-op with or without Multiplayer modes
2. Story Mode single player only with or without multiplayer modes
3. Multiplayer modes only (Will not buy)

I'd rather have a single-player story mode. I could give a shit about playing multi-player. Leave that for FPS and MMOs.
