Excellent and glad to see another Man U fan

I actually liked Fifa08 and thought it was an improvement over previous versions. In fact, I liked it better than the last installment of PES.

played the demo , definite improvements but still nowhere near as good as PES in my opinion. Granted it's just the demo but it still has the same feel to me , feels like my player is running on "rails" and just doesn't feel as "loose" as PES. I don't really care for the "closeup" cam either when your trying to deke , doesn't fit the football style.

Played the demo and man did the gamplay really improve. Last year Fifa owned PES and it looks like PES has to really step ot up big time this year. I loved the demo and i cant wait for the release!

i thought the demo was great! Feels much better than 08, i actually thought it felt a little more like PES, The close up only happens in the arena when you are trying to perform tricks, and not in a match situation, which is the same as last year! I wish they made the halves longer during the match though, still i found it challenging to beat toronto and i was chelsea on the second hardest level!

I think fifa 09 will be a must buy game! Improved graphics and control and more features than last years! I will be getting this

Fifa 08 was my first foray into the console football arena and I really enjoyed it, so I'll definitely be picking up 09. Anybody know if there is the chance they may include a custom team option (create one from scratch)?

LIVERPOOL!

EA have done it this year, realy only improved the things that actually needed changing! They obviously listened to there feedback from 08. Will be picking up this one for sure!

PES is the only one that makes me feel like I'm back playing again. Player anticipation, the nuances of movement .. what real players would do really is incredible on PES. Nothing about this demo left me with the impression Fifa/EA has figured that out yet and until they do it's a pass. To me that is the overriding criteria...does it feel like the real thing?

I don't believe they have said when .. but one is coming and the full game is going to be released this fall AFAIK...so it shouldn't be too far off. Might want to wait and then you can decide for yourself. If you haven't played competitive football my perspective may be the wrong one to go by.

FYI, PES 2008 did have technical glitches like framerate problems..which is something that will absolutely be gone in 2009 from what I've read. I still enjoyed it for the realism.

They don't have official licensing for the Premier League ... they have all the teams but they are called Man Red for United and Man Blue for City, etc. The rosters are the real players they just can't use the Club name. They do have the official license to the Champions League this year and it's included as well. I think EA has a separate game purchase for their UEFA stuff.

EA will support full team (10 vs 10) on-line apparently. Given EA's less than stellar on-line xp with their other PS3 sports games .. call me skeptical this will actually live up to the expectation. Although PES has their own work to do on that front as well and won't support that many players. I don't play on-line for football so it doesn't matter to me .. but it might for you.. I prefer the Champions League inclusion since I play standalone.

Default umm

EA always say that years new Fifa is gonna be much better than the previous one and they are always more or less the same given some minor tweaks. Ive been playing fifa since the PS1 days and havent been that much different gameplay wise. Im more a PES fan but last years effort was horrendously bad and even i got rid of it after about 3 days play. Tehn again ididnt care much for Fifa 08 too. Im still to be blown away by a football game on the PS3.
