Default Looking for speaker suggestions

So im looking to do a 5.1 setup and i havent bought a set of speakers for like 8 yrs or something along those lines (Cerwin Vega LS series if i remember correctly) but anyways this will be driven by either a 600 or 700 series onkyo reciever and the source will be my computer (either blu ray or music, via hdmi) i listen to ALOT of music so that is very important to me and my blu ray collection is growing the subwoofer is very important to me as i listen to alot of music that hits very low, and when someone explodes in a movie i want my damn bedroom to feel like it just exploded lol. Not sure how much i have to spend to get a decent setup, was thinking around $1500 for the speakers --> 2 floor standing fronts, 2 book shelf rears, 1 center, and an uber subwoofer

These are mostly Factory Direct speaker companies. They sell good speakers at very low prices and offer powerful subwoofers. Of course, you can go the normal route and buy Polk, Klipsch, Definitive Technology, etc. from retailers.

For that price range the best buy for your money would be the Monitor Audio Bronze series.

I can vouch for the Aperions, although I don't have them myself, they are great sounding speakers. They sound phenomenal. Also check out

1x Polk Audio DSW Pro 600

1x Polk Audio Monitor 40 BK Pair Bookshelf Speakers

If you think that is a decent setup, u think that sub is enough? its for my bedroom so its not a very big room 10x15 or so

Get all of those speakers from Amazon instead to save some money. As for the subwoofer, I think you can do better.

You can buy in a package like I said before from Elemental Designs and you can get a nice discount. You can call to see if you can get an extended discount as well, especially if you decide to go with a dual subwoofer setup.

I have the eD sub with Polk Monitor 50s, CS1, and 30s. It blends great!! I believe it is one of the best under $500 subs on the market. I only have it turned up a little over half way, and it kills.

your subs don't need to be timbre matched to the system or anything like that... worse case scenario is the sub is too weak or too strong for the system... with the eD sub I would say the latter is more likely, which can be solved by turning the sub to a lower setting anyways

there's nothing wrong with Polk subs, there are just much better subwoofers out there for the price, and you want the most out of your money dont you?

You think the monitor 70s are worth it or would i be fine with the 60's or 50's? i want this to be a noticeable increase of my current setup

Logitech Z-5500's, pretty badass for computer speakers

so basically i want something along those lines but i dont want to go overkill either cause its a small room

I don't think the difference between the Monitor 60s and 70s would be as big as a jump to the RTi line.

http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Out...1361544&sr=8-3

You will definitely notice a jump from your current setup regardless.

You can get this for the cost of a Monitor 70, and I think it is a better Polk speaker.
