Speaker Stand Suggestions - Blu-ray Forum

Just bought Onkyo S6100 and looking to get good speaker stands for a decent price. I do like the Onkyo AS140/240 but they seem expensive to me ($100-$179 a pair). Any suggestions? I haven't ruled out mounting them on wall but leaning for stands.

These stands from Monoprice are $14 a pair. They hold up to 5lbs. Your fronts are 4lbs. They might work.

I need to upgrade my "speaker stands".

Only problem is they are just under 8lbs each. The search continues...

I was just going to say they look very nice and so I clicked on the link. I was not sure where the part "affordable" comes into play however.

Careful when you're buying stands that allow you to hide the speaker cable. My g/f gave me a pair for Xmas. They are great but in order to run the cables up the support I had replace my heavier gauge cable with zip cord from Lowe's. Nothing else would fit in the pipe. So keep that in mind when shopping for those stands.

It's certainly not ideal, but for what I have to work with it's pretty darn good. My biggest complaint is that I don't have enough room to really spread them out.

If I wasn't married (or had a dedicated room

) then you had better believe I would have a couple of big towers on either side.

Definitely check out www.parts-express.com . They have a bunch of stands to choose from, and they're well made yet inexpensive.

I'm not sure what size stand you need, but here's an example of a 31" stand that retails for $55 a set. They're currently on sale for $48.48 a pair.

If those don't work for you there are several other styles and heights on the site. Many of them can be shot filled to add stability and tighten mid/bass response.

I actually just took into consideration, almost everyone of you all's reccomendation. I found several I like and boy am I glad that Amazon sells them too. There are about the same price and with amazon prime....it just gets better.

What does marriage have to do with having/not having tower speakers? Is it the WAF or a money issue???

I don't think they make a large difference. They don't resonate and can be isolated from the floor. I like them a lot though for now I think they're going to go into storage. My wife feels like they're in the way.

Yep, definitely WAF. The speakers I used to have were older, larger and less attractive. She actually encouraged me to get new ones! She shot down the idea of even larger towers though...

But honestly, my space is small enough where it really doesn't bother me. The bookshelf speakers + HSU sub is more than enough to disturb my neighbors. Overall it was an improvement in sound quality, so I really can't complain.
