Default Need help doing firmware update on my Panasonic BD-30.

Hello,

This seems like a simple task, I downloaded the
file from Panasonic, update-bd30nt-v24, then open this file
and it makes a .FRM file on my desktop, I send this to
my CD-R/W (Windows Vista) and burn it.

I flip on the BD-30 insert the disc and close it.

Basically it cannot read it, ive tried this like 6 times now with'
2 different kinds of media.

Please help.

Try unzipping the file before you burn it

Doesn't work with Vista, because vista doesn't 'Close' the session.

You can download the free trial of PowerISO, you'll be able to write you're file with it and the Free trial last a very long time...

That worked perfectly , thank you very much.

firmware was at 1.8 , its now at 2.4 .

Not sure what exactly that update is for , I doubt the updates addresses any of the things I don't like about it. Like stopping a movie in the middle and
it don't let you get into the main menu easily. Even worse , ive gotten into the main menu then want to get back to the movie and it starts at the beginning instead of where I left off.

Oh well I am sure there are ways arounds this stuff, so no biggie, i'll figure it out at some point.

thanks again ryoohki.

It generally states on the firmware page on Panasonic's website what the update addresses. One thing I have noticed is that my BD-30 doesn't play "burned" DVD's (DVD+R with booktype changed to DVD-ROM on genuine Taiyo Yuden media). I had that problem with my standard DVD player as well, I am thinking perhaps it is the compression, but my player does freeze up, sometimes stop, but not on all burned DVD's.

Beeing uptodate is very important for new releases. 2.3 fixed the 24p problem with new Paramount Titles (if you don't use 24p it's not a problem but anyway) and 2.4 i think was for Iron Man or something like that. Sometime they change thing that players don't like...
