1080p should not be a problem. The tuners can be modified to convert 1080i.
It buffers the first 540 lines, combines with the second 540 lines, and outputs it as 1080p. Much in the same way my tuner converts 480i to 480p. Now, any techie care to enlighten me why this isn't the same? |

Because the i in 1080i stands for interlacing.
Your 1080p image will look like this: ..---..... .....---.. ...---..... .....---.. ...---..... .....---.. ...---..... .....---.. ... if your vertical straight line moves a couple of pixels between fields. For good conversion of true 1080i source we need motion adaptive deinterlace, as used in DVD players for 480i to 480p. Cheers! DAve. |
