Default Blu ray and older HDTV Projectors

I bought one of the first HS 10's ( a sony projector) back in late 2003. With all this talk about HDCP, I am concerned I can't use a blu ray player with it. It has dvi, not hdmi. There is no mention of HDCP in the owners manual. Will a blu ray player and discs work on this projector? It can play up to 1080i. Will it still upconvert DVD's?

I appreciate any insights on this as I'd like to get on the blu ray wagon.

The owner’s manual is your best source. If the manual does not mention HDCP over DVI then you can not connect a BLU-RAY to that input. All BLU-RAY players will output 480I, 480P, 720P, and 1080I over analog component video cables. Many BLU-RAY players will upscale DVD’s to 1080I over component video cables.

If I understand you right, then if I use component connections, I can still get HD (720or 1080i) from a blu ray player. I can still have my sd dvd's upscaled as well. If so, that is good news. I saw where Casino Royale is not using and "content protection" so I guess this means it is not encoded with HDCP?

Thanks for your help on this. I may just be able to join the blu ray revolution after all....
