For a bit more, you can get the Onkyo 606. Just think of the extra $70 as taxes, shipping, and future-proofing your investments.

Even if you're not expecting a receiver to be able to decode the high definition codecs (TrueHD and DTS-HD MA), you should still get one that has 5.1/7.1 analog outs, that way if you get a Blu-ray player that does decodes them you can still listen to them though that type of a receiver. And to get one that has analog outs will run you at least $300-350. I'd say just get an Onkyo TX-SR606 for less then $400 and you'll have everything you need for your Blu-ray listening pleasure.

That should work, although the Onkyo 606 ($320 shipped) is better AQ wise.

If you are in the U.S. then your best option is to save a bit more and look at the Onkyo line of receivers.

If you are in Canada, you won't find anything worthy of your BD setup for under $800.

I know a few people on here said the 720 is a nice reciever for the $$, but I being an owner of the 710, already want to upgrade it (mostly due to the fact that I didn't realize it didn't process Multi-channel PCM) after having it for a year. Therefore I would suggest saving up $70 for the Onkyo 606, or saving up and getting the Sony 920. Try somewhere like ugotadeal.com they have some good prices.

How about this for an all-in-one solution? I am looking to upgrade soon.

The Sony 820 is a great bargain at about $350US, free shipping, no tax from internet stores like ABT.com.
It decodes all the new audio formats.
It's always best to "futureproof" each component you buy as you build your system, as you will not need to replace it nearly as soon.

onkyo tx-sr304 ,found one at jr.com for $149.00. has 5.1 inputs, dig inputs etc, various sound modes, no hdmi input so you would have to run your hdmi cable from your bd player directly to the tv.

You don't need HD audio decoding -(you've got 2 ps3's) so for the best sound quality here you go http://www.accessories4less.com/make...urround/1.html It's only 249.99. Right down your alley and it's a Marantz - great sound quality!

I have a Harmon Kardon AVR-146 you can have for $125.00. They go for about $300.00 at Best Buy. There is nothing wrong with it and I have all original packing, remote, manual etc....

Actually, that's probably his best choice for a receiver at that price. I agree with this, unless he's planning to do bitstreaming from another Blu-ray player, which probably won't happen.
