Default Wal-Mart: Transformers BD "scam"

While thumbing through the meager selection of Blu-Ray at the local Wal-Mart today, I see Transformers for 29$ and change, and although that's no "deal" by any means, there's a sticker on the front cover that says "10$ mail-in rebate for owners of Transformers on DVD"

I think "woohoo" and off I go to the cash, seeing as how I have it on DVD already, and the 10$ will calm the Mrs. who is INSANE about NOT rebuying movies on BD. When I get home and open the case, and read the fine print, it says you have to send the Proof of Purchase or UPC from each title. No big deal so far right? Wrong. The UPC/Proof of Purchase on the BD is on the plastic slip cover, meaning I have to cut it out..

I think "oh well, a nice sharp exacto will do the trick".. then I grab the DVD copy off the shelf. Guess what? No UPC or Proof of Purchase to be found anywhere inside or out of its plastic slip cover or case!!!!!!!!!!!

If I knew where to write, I'd be giving someone a nice ear-full right about now.

Not Walmart's fault.

I realize it's not Wal-Mart tagging the discs. However, I've not seen this offer on Transformers BDs anywhere else. So was it a promotion just for them? Dunno. Anyhow, I think you missed the point entirely.

I think the $10 back deal on certain Paramount titles is a Paramount deal and I thought available everywhere. As far as the DVD, the Transformers DVD I have has 2 proof of purchase tabs over the UPC on the back cover of the DVD case (not the slip-cover). I think I saw someone else mention this a while back though but everyone else I saw replying in that thread said their DVD had the 2 proof of purchase tabs like mine. So, I stopped following the thread to see how it turned out for the guy posting. I wonder if he was in Canada?

Got my copy from Family Video and it had the rebate offer, too. My DVD had two Proof of Purchse tabs.

C Doc, since you cannot find the proof of purchase (POP) tabs. Iam going to assume you have the 2-disc special edition transformers. The case artwork picture has no specs what so ever. Just Optimus on the front, Megatron on the back. Well, all the specs and POP tabs are located on a seperate insert card that was intually stuck to the back of the case. Most people threw this card away, as I believe you might also have. Hope this was of help.
