Default Best Speaker Wires ?????

I'm looking to rewire my home theater system and I want to do it with new speaker wires that have built in connectors -- spade as well as banana plugs. Any good recommendations for brands and places to buy? What is the best size for the speaker wires? I'd rather stay away from Monster Cable too.

Buy either 12 gauge or 14 gauge in-wall or regular speaker wires from Monoprice. They also have good banana plugs.

Also take a look at the A guide to Optical, Digital, & Speaker Cables thread. Use the table there as a guide for your speaker gauge number.

I got these off of Amazon and so far they are great. They are good quality and built very well. I believe they are 14 gauge and they also have a center channel wire sold separately.

Negative! I own it...its a small condo, but i only share one wall (corner lot). Anyways, last time i saw my neighbor, i touched bases with him and he was cool with my newly found hobby. He mentioned he already noticed the wall booming every once in a while, but he said he didn't mind. I told him to just let me know if it ever got too loud. He mentioned he used to have a loud system once upon a time, but no longer...Anyways, i just rented Master and Commander, so i shall watch it tomorrow

The best place to buy those Dayton speaker wires is Parts Express. They are a reputable vendor. I have ordered many things from them with no problem. In fact, Amazon refers you to other vendors such as Parts Express. They also sell Dayton Subwoofers. Some of those subwoofers are designed by Dr. Hsu from Hsu Research.

Blue Jeans cable is a nice option. They will build you the speaker cables for you so you can get custom lengths. Banana plugs, spades, locking banana plugs (which I like). I made my own using canare 4S11 and locking banana plugs. Even though the 4S11 (quadstar) is a bi-wire cable I made a cable that combined the four leads into two.

Any reason why Monster is of the table other than a lot of people hate the company itself ??? I'm not saying to buy Monster or that their wire is wonderful but it is not expensive at all really compared to others. If you think it's not worth the price tag.

PUBLIC NOTICE: I'm not trying to start a Monster bashing session or anything of that nature. Just trying to add a simple innocent thought. I know how the "M" word ignites forest fires around here so I'll tread lightly.

Technical Pro sells high quality speaker wires with banana plugs attached to professionals (clubs, DJs, concerts, etc.) at reasonable prices. They only sell 25ft or 50ft.

I recommend Goertz cables, particularly the MI2 veracity from Alphacore. As the rate of diminishing returns goes, these cables give you the best bang for your buck.

If you can wait for them to be prepared, take a look at these coming in through eBay and from Taiwan:

http://tinyurl.com/584v8t

Kevin will make whatever you want and will set the cables up as a biwire. His products are great and will outperform some very expensive cables (I have special versions of the cables and both I and Dave Schulte of the Upgrade Company have listened to them and other expensive cables). Kevin had some flooding issues and loss of equipment a while back but should be back in production shortly. I am waiting for a special subwoofer cable. Send Kevin an e-mail for what you want, he will respond a bit slowly and you may need to remind him if you don't hear.

I use Canare 4S11 speaker cables. Work fine for me. Prior to that I had some Kimber 4tc's that my dealer gave to me for free when I bought speakers. I personally would never buy them on principle.

I have Nordost Red Dawn for my Mains and Center speakers. They're exremely detailed-tight bass and empahsizes the midrange But they are not for the faint of heart when it comes to price

Good choice of speaker cable! Once I get my new speakers settled in (most likely a pair of Martin Logan Spires), replacing my pre to power interconnect and speaker cables with Nordost Frey is next on my list of upgrades. Now there's an eye watering price!

At $0.60/foot you can't go wrong. But if you think all speaker wire is the same you are very mistaken.

You should give some 10 or 12 gauge from BlueJeansCable a try, I think 14 is a little small for your speakers... you might not think it makes a difference but it is a bit of one... I did a side-by-side for my friend using 14 vs 10 gauge, 5 foot wire lengths, both terminated with identical banana plugs, and it made him a believer... I put on a CD and switched the amp to Mono (so the same audio comes from both channels) then used the fader to turn it to the left (10 gauge) and right (14 gauge) and without telling him which was which, he preferred the 10 gauge wire on the left, saying it sounded like it gave tighter bass and a little bit more definition

Thanks. I'm currently pre ordering the Arcam AVR600 and get the SimAudio CD 3.3(that's right-it'll be out next month) Then I'll upgrade my Dynaudio 3.4s to the C2s and go up into the Heimdall speaker wire and interconnects. There goes my retirement fund
