Default Anyone seen Polar Express in 3D yet?

I wanted to know if anyone has had a chance to see either of the 2 new 3D releases and how they looked?

I saw Journey to the Center of the Earth 3 D in the theatre. Haven't seen the Blu version yet, but the one in the theatre was pretty cool. I'm guessing both that and the Polar Express will both look amazing.

The question I have is has anyone rented it from Netflix? If so, I don't suppose they supply the glasses? I'd like to see it in 3D before deciding whether or not to buy it, but don't know where to get the glasses. I already have the previous Blu-Ray version, and would like to find out if it's worth buying twice--just to get 3D and lossless audio.

I have last night. I must say i was disappointed. When someone came close to the screen there was like a double image and when there were no so close it was at best okay. there were some scenes that had some sort of depth perception but nothing like the real 3d that i saw in the theatre for polar, beowulf and journey. I suggest that no movie be put into 3d until they get the tech right and get rid of those red green glasses that kinda gave me a headache. I much perfer looking at the 2d version with the beautiful colours and the right coulours. with the red green you don"t get accuracy. But i must say I loved the true HD Track.

Yup, watched it last night with my girlfriend. It was our first time seeing the movie and we loved it. The Dolby TrueHD track was really nice. We watched it in 3D, and the movie felt like it was an Audio/Video adventure. It felt more like a ride then a movie.

As of how the 3D was, it was pretty nice. Many of the scenes in 3D were very cool, such as the snow scene and the scenes with lots of elves. Of course sometimes the image can seem distorted, and the colors a little weird. However, I did enjoy the 3D and I recommend watching it.

we are watching this on Saturday night with the kids - really crossing my fingers the 3D effect is cool...so far, most people seem pretty keen on it...

I would say I doubt netflix is going to send the glasses.
Google 3d glasses is what I did and I found a website that had some specifically for this movie, about $10 includes shipping.
I purchased the movie and the cardboard glasses are not comfortable and they have very small lenses. I own the hd dvd version but wanted to experience 3d, so far I like it but I just need better glasses to enjoy.

watched it for about 10 minutes in 3d last night and then gave up on the 3d part and switched over to 2d, my eyes have never been good with 3d movies because of my eye's astigmatism, even with glasses I still see a blur on the screen, o well

Just purchased the Blu today. I ordered 3D clip on glasses to make sure it is going to be as comfortable as possible.

So, it's going to be a few days before I get to watch.

If you rent it from Netflix it won't be the 3D version.

I rented it from Netflix & they are only renting the 2D version. The 3D & 2D version isn't on the same disc.

There is a post over at hidefdigest that Blockbuster is doing the same by only renting the 2D version.

Disappointing.

Thanks, good to know. I guess I'll just go ahead, and buy it. I do love the movie, and apparently this version is superior the previous Blu version.

You mean the original 2D version that was released a while ago? Because the 3D release contains both versions on the same disc.

I just checked the site. They are only renting the 2004 Blu edition. Bummer.

Sorry. I meant to clarify.

Yes. I meant Netflix is only renting the older 2D version & that it's not the new version with the 2D & 3D on the same Blu-ray.

Also if anyone is interested Netflix is only renting the 2D version of Journey to the Center of the Earth.

I was pretty disappointed they're not renting the 3D version of that one also.

I watched a few scenes last night and some of it was really cool: the snow falling and the elves, for instance. But I couldn't get comfortable because I wear glasses, plus I noticed some ghosting. Perhaps if I bought the clip-ons they sell online it would help.

I watched about 5 minutes of the 3D version last night and it was pretty poor. Being that it the old red bluue glasses I wasn't expecting much anyway. To me it didn't even look 3D and the glasses made the picture look too dark. I'll be sticking with the 2D version. I imagine the Journey to the Center of the Earth one will be the same way.
