Red face nooB DVI to HDMI question . .

I've decided to go with the Sony Sony BDP-S550 blu-ray player for my older HDTV (Panasonic PT-53WX53 53") to get the analog 7.1 as per previous advice received. (thank you Driver_King & JasonR).

I have a DVI input in my HDTV, but it seems that in different places I look, there are different kinds of "DVI" conections that seem to vary in pin arrangment. The manual of the TV states

"DVI/HDCP input terminal complies with the EIA-861Profiles2 standard"

I took a pic of the back of the TV where the DVI connection is:

My question is that there are a ton of DVI to HDMI cables available on eBay and other sites, but most do nost specify the DVI type. And here all this time I thought I was going to just pick one up with no anxiety.

Here are some of the ones I see around:

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Monster-400-...mZ220296704302

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Monst...oductDetail.do

Is there a sure way to know which one will work, or am I just blowing this out of proportion?

3ft HDMI-DVI

6ft HDMI-DVI

10ft HDMI-DVI

...you just need a DVI-D version.

the ones you listed would work also. But id stay away from an adapter like the one from circuit city. Just get the cable.

Thanks for the tips. I was a little leary of the screw down adapters as well. I cannot understand how they get away with charging 50+ $$ for one of those things. So there's no difference between DVI and DVI (D) ?

Also, how in world does that website monoprice offer them up under $5 like that? Incredible!
