Anyone know if "Casablanca" from Amazon France is region free?

Doesn't look like it says. I decided to order from Amazon France because I wanted the regular Blu-ray case, but I hope it's the same region.... it would suck to open it and find out that it won't play.

It's interesting that the second disc of bonus features is a DVD rather than an BD (assuming the description is accurate). I know all the material is in standard definition, so technically it doesn't make any real difference. However, for anyone such as myself with a US Blu-ray player and a European (multi-region) DVD player, it does mean that a bonus DVD disc containing PAL material can be played on the DVD player, whereas it could not be played if it were technically a BD. (Of course the Casablanca extras may well be in NTSC anyway, but I'm making a general point.)

I hope other releasing Companies will follow this practice for any release that includes a second disc of extras entirely in standard definition.

If your importing this to the USA, the DVD might be region 2 only.

Thanks for the warning () but I'm in the UK and have a multi-region DVD player anyway (see my signature below). I was making the point because I have a US Blu-ray player.

I checked the Amazon France web page and it's showing the French edition as only one disc. Is this correct or is it actually a 2-disc set? (I know Amazon often show incorrect information on their sites.)

It is a 2 - Disc Set, but only 1 Blu-ray and 1 DVD - mayvbe there is another edition?
Dor germany there are two releases, the one I already posted and one with special packaging (bluray-disc.de/filme/drama/2585-casablanca-ultimate-collector-s-edition)

But both come with the same features and specs, so amazon is most likely wrong

If it's a 2 disc set, then it's definitely a BD-25. WB is taking up this new practice of having 2 disc sets (1BD/1DVD) so as to not use a dual-layered BD. Strange. I'm not going to say I'm completely against it. It's better than what Universal is doing (leaving off extras altogether).

Well as long as they don't use a thicker case to house the two discs, I don't object. In fact it could potentially be a good thing for anyone (such as myself!) who owns a US Blu-ray player and a European multi-region DVD player. If the standard definition extras are encoded in PAL (this has happened on some BDs such as the region-free UK release of 'The Shawshank Redemption'), a US Blu-ray player can not play them. So it's much better that they are hived off onto a separate DVD rather than being included on the BD.

Yep. This is WB so they'd be NTSC.
