What will I miss with samsung Ht as720st

I have an out dated movie room with 6.1 sound system 1080i tv and bass shacker seating. I love it wife hates it! Long story short with analog tv going out I decided to get 1080p for our other tv in familyroom. I found a package with blu-ray sammy 52 Ln650 and sammy 1500 blu-ray. I gotta say picture is awesome but no surround sucks. For simplicity would the sammy HTIB be a bad choice since you can use same remote and easy set-up and still make a movie sound like a movie without being so explosive to scare off my wife. I know price wise you can do better and will eventually update my movie room with better sound and blu-ray. Will this system decode blu-ray and how bad will it sound if it doesn't...
