Default GI Jane for God's sake??? HUH?

I came a heart beat from hijacking another thread where someone was expounding on how GI Jane was one of their favorite movies, I thought better of it... not only because I didn't want to affront them, but because hijacking a thread is bad form.

That said....

GI Jane???

Good transfer, bad transfer, it really doesn't matter IMHO. What bothers me is that there are SO MANY better movies in the Disney or Buena Vista or Touchstone or Miramax or even the Hollywood Pictures catalogs which COULD have been produced instead.

There was a reason back then why the saying in Hollywood was "If it's the Sphinx, it stinks"

Edit: Honestly, if you dont believe me, follow this link "if its the Sphinx, it stinks"

Well if you think GI Jane is bad just wait for Happily N'Ever After. Rottentomatoes.com gave this flick a 4% rating (out of 100%). http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/happily_never_after/

Sheesh, why bother.

We need quality films and not this crap.

I agree completely. In a HD-DVD vs Blu ray thread in one of the comic forums I frequent someone fell for the cheaper HD-DVD players and jumped into their camp. Blu ray needs to keep cramming quality movies down HD-DVD's throat and have a library that is impossible to resist. I understand that in the future it will be that way, but Blu ray backed studios need to go for the jugular. G.I. Jane is not the way to do it.

I agree. They need to release something, you know like umm, STAR WARS, or INDIANA JONES, or STAR TREK.

They won't do that until they feel safer about DRM capabilities.

screw DRM capabilities! They need to win this war and the only way they'll do that is by releasing something ENORMOUS like Star Wars or Indiana Jones (proble will release it along with the 4th part).

I like GI Jane, it was much better than i thought it was going to be, but i totally agree with you that there could have been way better choices.

These are the extras on the UK First Independent/Columbia TriStar DVD:

Theatrical Trailer (01:50)
Interview Bites (18:31) - Demi Moore, Viggo Mortensen, Anne Bancroft, Morris Chestnut, Kevin Gage, Ridley Scott, Roger Birnbaum, Danielle Alexandra, Barry Humphries, Chrissie Hynde
Featurette (04:35)
Miscellaneous B Roll (09:24)
Filmographies - Demi, Moore, Viggo Mortensen, Anne Bancroft, Ridley Scott

This is all EPK material presented in non-anamorphic widescreen.

Unfortunately the Filmographies are even more useless than one might expect. Rather than revealing any biographical information, it's simply a list of credits.

Also this is a late 90s transfer that can only be described as absolutely dreadful.

14 years -- while not a record necropsy, it's pretty close for Bluray.com

These sorts of bumps remind me of some stand up bit I saw where the comedian says how sometimes they see a movie years after the fact for the first time and just want to talk about, no one is interested though lol

Ridley Scott recorded a commentary for the laserdisc, but Disney didn't bother including it on the DVD or the BD. No idea why.
